Mass - Federal Extensions Update (06/05/12) Question ??
Federal Extensions Update (06/05/12)
Please note that due to the improving unemployment rate in Massachusetts, the week ending June 23, 2012 is the last week in which claimants can establish eligibility on Tier III. If you're already receiving Tier III benefits, please continue to certify for weekly benefits; you have until the week ending December 29, 2012 to collect your balance. You will be notified when your benefits are exhausted. If you have any questions, please call the TeleClaim Center
My question is i am on Tier II and it ends on 06/23/12 which is the last week..
do i still qualify for tier III ? if you look at the break down below i think it says i just made the cut by 06/23/12 being my last day..but maybe i am reading it wrong..see breakdown below..
Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) Tier III Up to 13 weeks* The week ending 06/23/12 is the last week in which claimants can exhaust Tier II and establish eligibility on Tier III. 12/29/2012..
Based on this description i shoul be eligable because my tier ii ends on the 23rd..

Re: Mass - Federal Extensions Update (06/05/12) Question ??
This is cutting it very close. If your last claim on Tier 2 is June 23, then I don't think you are eligible for Tier 3. Technically, you were not eligible for Tier 3 on that date. You missed it by one week. Anyone on Tier 3 will be able to exhaust their benefits under that tier, but no one will be added after that date. December 29 is the last day one can claim benefits under that tier even if they have money left. This would apply in most cases to those who work part-time and receive partial benefits. They could possibly have funds still available in December, but they will be lost. Federal Extensions are ending.

Re: Mass - Federal Extensions Update (06/05/12) Question ??
Thank you Desperate in RI...I did call Mass Employment and they had to ask 3 different people but told me that if i am not working by the 06/23/12 i would qualify because I exhaust Tier II on that date and establish eligibility on Tier III..It is confusing the website says "The week ending 06/23/12 is the last week in which claimants can exhaust Tier II " and that is my last week...So if anyne else falls in that category you are ok for tier III..GL to everyone!!

Good luck! I still don't believe that MA unemployment rate is that low. I live right on the border and have applied to hundreds of companies in MA and still nothing!!

If that were the case, everyone who exhausted benefits would move here to receive the tiers and state eb that have been cutback elsewhere!baseq3 wrote:I totally agree it's hard to believe and i live in Rhode Island and have for the past 15 years but worked in Mass..Hey Desperate if i exhaust mass and Rhode Island still has weeks would i qualify seeing i live in Rhode Island ?...
Take advantage of, and register for, the services of Network RI. Anyone who lives in the state and is unemployed are eligible for these services. This state, with its poor economic outlook and unemployment rate, will have these programs in place for a while.

baseq3 I am in the same boat as you!I filed for week ending June 23rd and it brought me to a zero balance. However when I did this it told me I had no funds left on my claim and I could file a new claim if I had worked in the last 15 months. Is this what you received as well? Do we have to call to trigger Tier 3 or will it automatically give us a balance next week when we claim.
