Anyone from western Mass?
I'm a resident of western MA, late '20s. I've been unemployed for several months (my last position was in a seasonal, temp job). I've been looking for work in my area (Springfield) on several job boards, but seem to come up with the same companies consistently. There seems to be a shortage in the variety of open positions, no matter how broadly I search.
Would like to know if anyone is experiencing something similar, and would like to hear how your own job hunting experience is like in this part of the state, thanks.

Re: Anyone from western Mass?
Welcome Ponzu,
Im also from Ma but not western, I/m in Merrimack Valley area. As far as the shortage of open positions, its due to there being NO jobs. I was out of work 2.5 years and many on this forum have or have been out even longer. The one thing to your advantage is your age, you are still very young and more appealing to employers compared to the over 50 crowd.

Welcome ponzu,
I am from s.e. mass. Not much better here. My husband was out of work for 3.5 yrs and just finally went back a few months ago. They say it's getting better all over mass, but all I hear about are temp or part time jobs. I got a job last summer that started off part time but now full time for min. Wage at a rest home. I love it, but wish the pay were better.

Does anybody remember the nickname that Romney was given - a friend told me that they used to refer to him as "Mitt robbed me" although I haven't heard this mentioned and I couldn't have made it up. Anyone?? Regardless, I'm thinking it sounds like a good fit.
