Why Hiring the Unemployed will Grow your Business
The unemployed are talented. Unfortunately, as the Zero Unemployment Movement surveyed and reported, discrimination against the unemployed is a reality. The unemployed are an undervalued talent source.
Depart of Labor Secretary Hilda Solis explained her thoughts on recruiting practices toward the unemployment:
Unemployment – like labor – is manmade. Simply put: we created unemployment, we can fix unemployment. The unemployed deserve your time. Check out the unemployed.
10 Reasons to Hire the Unemployed by SmartRecruiters CEO Jerome Ternynck
1. The unemployed are hungry.
2. They are willing to work.
3. The unemployed are talent ready to adapt to vision.
4. More willing to give greater commitment.
5. They are not jaded from overworking.
6. Less often, you have to bid against competitors for wages.
7. You get more talent for your buck.
8. Because this world doesn’t need anymore discrimination.
9. To make the economy better.
10. America needs your help.

“I am very disturbed when I hear that employers don’t want to even look at resumes of people that have been out of work for 6 months or just (are) unemployed. It’s as though people have created this problem themselves, and that’s just not true.”

Re: Why Hiring the Unemployed will Grow your Business
Most everybody on here would agree with this post..BUT it doesn't really matter because the long-term unemployed/Exhaustees/99ers are all treated like rotting fruit when it comes to business's hiring us.
What do you do when you see rotting fruit at the grocery store? you pass it up and go to the next one that is not. Even worse at home, when it's rotten you throw it out.
I feel like as a Exhaustee/99ers the government needs to help us short term like HR589 or other similar bills but even more important WE NEED legislation that will not allow company's to discriminate us and if they do they should be fined and that money put back into unemployment extensions until this is no longer a practice that businesses do. I blame the GOP completely for this one. All of 2010 & Most of 2011 everytime the word UNEMPLOYMENT came out of one of their mouths it was followed by Lazy, Druggy, Drunk, Check Collecor, Unmotivated, Looser, ect. so we are viewed now as Undesirable
Over the past year out of the few interviews I did have most of them were not ashamed and didn't blink an eye when telling me I did not get he job even though I was VERY Qualified but they went with a person with a more current work history. Even more wretching is when you go to apply for a job now and you see...Must be currently employed or unemployed for a period of 3 months or less or Unemployed Need Not Apply.
The public persona seem to fall in line with the GOP thinking. Most of the people I know that have a job, say to me over and over that If you really wanted to get a job you could get one. I say really, well I apply for Overqualified jobs, Underqualified jobs, and jobs I am Very Much qualified for and most of the time I hear NOTHING!! & If I do get feedback it in the form of the above paragraphs.....UUUUGGGGhhhhh what the hellz are we supposed to do...

Re: Why Hiring the Unemployed will Grow your Business
If you do start arguing with employers who do this. Then your at fault. Asking for job gaps does not solve anything in a bad economy.
I think the only way to handle this is to reward every employer that does not. If a long term unemployed it is easier to verify. They should get a tax break. Putting a person back to work helps pays taxes for everyone!

I'm admittedly not being neutral in saying that there's a lot of "fluff", insinuation, and cliché statements in these "10 Reasons".
