Filing UI claim with EDD - can't get through
Does anyone know what is going on with EDD -- I have tried for two days at least 8 hours total to get through via phone to open UI claim. I was a 99er from 2008 and have worked 10 months in 2011 as a temporary employee (last day was 11/14 on a temporary assignment. I have enough in my base period to qualifiy to open a claim. I finally filed on online and did receive a confirmation number. But's its frustrating not being able to get through via phone. I did not have this problem when I opened my first claim in 2008!

I have always had a problem after I was laid off in 2009. The only way I can even get the phone to ring so I can get on hold is to start dialing the number 5 minutes before they open. In my state it will tell you that they are closed. I then hang up and continually hit redial until for 5 minutes until the automated phone system opens up and then it will ring and put me on hold to speak with someone. They open at 8 am here. If I call at 8:01 the phone will be busy for the rest of the day.

It's very frustrating. PA has an automated call back system. You just have to be persistent. Some days and hours are less busy, PA suggests you call after 1PM and never on Sunday/Monday.

Thanks Everyone - I will keep trying today! I simply want to confirm my online application was received.
