New jobless claims 391,000

Maybe things are looking up after all!
If the stimulus plans go through with this already new jobless claims falling there will be no need for further extensions!
Hopefully of the 15 to 20 million out of work finally will find a job, I truly hope!!

Re: New jobless claims 391,000
We have been through this before. When it gets to less than 100,000 for three months in a row. Then we could celebrate. Provided that over 300,000 or more job were created in each month.
With over 30 million in need of good jobs. This news is totally BS!!!
The only way out is take from the rich! Remember they stole from the middle and poor class without blinking!

Boy, those skewed numbers help in reelection attempts but they don't put food on table or pay bills!

Re: New jobless claims 391,000
When will they get it that the unemployed who have exhausted their benefits are not being counted! Does not mean jobs are being created! Furthermore, seasonal hiring is just getting started and I am sure the numbers will LOOK good again in the coming months! I agree with you 1208, these numbers are being fudged for political purposes.

I cannot believe that we are all falling for the "good news" they way they want us to. 391,000 is NOTHING to celebrate, unless it's 391,000 jobs CREATED LAST WEEK.

Re: New jobless claims 391,000
agree!but you can rest assured the numbers are being used for their advantage!when the new jobless claims dip and the way it is announced it has an impact that everything is getting wonderful and the preception is from the public is "thats great". In reality the hurting unemployed are stuck in limbo and left behind! How about a bill called"no unemployed left behind".

Re: New jobless claims 391,000
Very true 1208. that's what I meant, people who are working and these pundits all celebrate the number dropping below 400,000. WOW, YIPEE!!! The celebration begins when instead of 0 job created, 0 people filed a new claim, companies have stopped laying off.

Business networks say 1 in 4 companies plan on job cuts and also census bureau in Jeffersonville Ind announced 500 job cuts as of Fri 9/30/2011 they're already laid off, makes me wonder how Obama is going to improve economy in one year again! Hasn't happened yet! 2012 will be very revealing. Probably another big job fixing speech!

Re: New jobless claims 391,000
So if claims are up one week, by the usual logic here, then Obama is dooming the economy then that must mean he is now saving the economy since unemployment claims have been down two weeks in a row.
Hooray for Obama!
Hooray for Obama!

Re: New jobless claims 391,000
I didn't realize that! Two weeks in a row. Hey all you 99er's and other 17 million unemployed. Everyone will have a job within the next few weeks. Oh, lets see, say job numbers drop by 20,000 each week, boy that means maybe at that rate there would be 80,000 new jobless claims decline in one month. Then IF there are 80,000 new jobs each month that means in 12 mos.960,000 new jobs OR new jobless claims decline in 12 mos. Is that success or what??? That means at that pace wow!!! In 10 yrs.9.6 million may find a job.. Hey, we are in a hugh recovery!! Hooray for Obama!!!

Re: New jobless claims 391,000
Lendme, thats great success! And great calculations! They say that jobless claims must be below 375,000 4 to 6 mos. in a row and unemployment must be at or below 6% to consider the economy in a recovery!
But with all the new seasonal hiring , there will be bragging rights on how great things are and the economy is fixed I'm sure!

Re: New jobless claims 391,000
Please just my few cents. Government stats and projections are nice tidy figures that we can explain ourselves within and away with.
But things are getting better and I'm promoting the notion that everyone start to do whatever can be done to get a job, while reasonably expecting respectable relief.
Things are getting better and please don't leave yourself behind thinking otherwise - "things" are not perfect but matters are indeed shining brighter.
Companies just can't wait forever or they lose. Please don't leave yourself behind in this mire and please do a "new start, new attitude" from this day, and forwards.
Respectfully,
Jeff
