Re: New jobless claims
Isn't it funny that when the jobs news is good no one believes it but when it's bad then we are all going to hell and the sky is falling?

Re: New jobless claims
Well, that's the press spin and we do fall for it. However, i don't feel 398,000 is anything to celebrate. In addition, many of the companies that have announced layoffs don't start until 8/1 and 9/1. Some start 1/1/2012. That's why it's hard to believe. I think many economists are right on target, but weekly numbers can be tricky. People get picked up as jobbers for 4 week contracts, companies announce layoffs months in advance. You wait, next week, after the debt ceiling is raised, we'll be back in the drink once again, only to add to the distrust of the numbers and Washington in general.

Re: New jobless claims
No, in fact I'm losing my place to live at the end of next month. However, I refuse to let life kill me. I refuse to be negative anymore. I think that is really the difference between liberals and conservatives in general. I am a liberal, I try not to be cynical about things and I want to move forward. I want things to get better. conservatives tend to be negative and cynical about everything in the world and want things to stay the same way that they are now.
I have had a few interviews and positive leads though. Maybe my attitude is part of the difference?

Oh so now it's my job to make YOU happy? You are the only one that can make you happy. No job, no woman, no amount of money can truly make you happy. It's something you have to be strong enough to find inside you.

Just so you know the right in the house voted down 4 jobs bills the dems put up. Not taking any sides but how the hell can we fix the economy when they don't want jobs to make Obama look bad. There are two sides here 1208.

Re: New jobless claims
It is and always has been about political one upmanship.
Until we the people stand up for what we believe in this will continue.
Until we the people stand up for what we believe in this will continue.
Re: New jobless claims
no matter which party one supports, its so funny when the politician makes a speech and says "This is what the American people wants".. Both sides, but they have NO CLUE what the American people want! Everything they do is self serving and self motivated! Because Americans are lazy and stand for nothing anymore! Its ride along for the ride but complain and female dog if one doesn't like something! But they hardly in mass numbers collect peacefully and go to washington to march and voice their opinions. Not in numbers large enough to make an impact!

Oh my friend 1208, what lendme is trying to tell you is: How much worse can it get for him. I already lost my home and belongings, I will not let them get my dignity and my spirit, then I am changing myself to become them. Am I, or any other 99er who isn't being kept by someone, loving this new lifestyle. I am 56, worked my whole life as well and if I can scrape enough money together to get my hair cut at hair cuttery for $15 occassionally, I am thrilled. That's not what I wished for when I sat on Santa's lap, trust me.
lendme is trying to say, it's what you make of each day to survive that keeps you going. It has to be that way. How many members have to leave or sadly die, before people get that you have to do whatever it takes to get you through the day. If finding the bright side of this mess, making lemons out of lemonade keeps you going, you have to do it, the alternative is not good.
Furthermore, the way you handle yourself does change your outcome. If you get mad at the Democrats (see last November) and vote in the Republican Class that the American people did, you get what we get now. Voting is serious and not to be taken lightly or done in anger. Look what that accomplished. And, the Dems did introduce 4 bills last year, believe it or not with some Republican co-sponsors, to create jobs and they were shot down by the evil, all knowing caucus that votes with Mr. Personality himself, Mitch McConnell. I only hope that all your comments posted here are somehow making it to Wash DC in the form of tweets, emails or phone calls.
We're all disgusted, tired, scared, lonely and worried about when the next shoe will drop, but if you don't tell the people who count, those who make the legislative decisions, it's not going to do any good.

Re: New jobless claims
I hear you guys and am sorry all this is happening! I am a augmentative pessimist mixed with a portion of reality. I hear that this weeks numbers of new claims is going to be pretty bad! Thurs. will tell. all the job talk is passive talk just to create a stir. but there is nothing in pres. plans to get anything done.. Its all talk...
