Although in parts I agree with all of you, I am going to remain true to myself. I have said many times on this forum and the old forum, our society, in fact our world has become a "what have you done for me lately" world. People are nastier than I have ever seen them be, to total strangers, for no apparent reason. Maybe TV influences such as battling housewives and badly behaved twenty somethings is the way many people want to see the world go. I don't. I am glad that we have a gentleman for a President, not a gun slinger who draws lines in the sand and then can't back them up. I am tired of the Dick Cheyney, Donald Rumsfeld, John Boehner, Eric Cantor, Chris Christie ignorance. They take public appearances and make rude remarks, answer people smuggly, like they are the last word and authority. They forget when they get so busy trying to save their jobs, to do their jobs. I, for one did not elect a smug, wise ass to wink and make ridiculous statements. The fact that a sitting President would ask for a joint session to address Congress on their first day back and be told no shows the complete lack of respect they have for this man. I don't see any one of my former employers asking for a meeting and me telling them, no, won't work for me. Let's pick another date. Sure!!
I was drawn to President Obama for his character. He is not perfect, who is. He can't get everything done, no one can. Especially not with the smug group of frankly, jackasses he deals with daily. He's never been one to take the "my way or the highway" attitude and I am glad he's not caving to it now. That would make him something he is not. We haven't heard his plan, I would like to, I hope he wows us. I doubt he will get full cooperation, especially since the weight of the business community and the ratings agencies has no effect on the thinking of the tea partiers, I doubt anyone can get through. They are nothing but gun slingers. They have no credible plans, they don't get the facts straight, but it doesn't matter, because they have 12 people who will worship them, so they take up print and airtime. I have yet to see the great numbers that everyone is talking up for any of these candidates. Bachman, Perry, Gingrich are ego driven, watch them turn on one another when their numbers get really bad. Santorum is someone I cannot take seriously, I lived in PA and we ran him out of town on a fast track, he's too off the charts and an unknown anywhere but PA. Huntsman and Romney are the most moderate and most sensible, but they have already started to cave to get the votes of the followers of the Bachman, Perry and Gingrich crowd, not so much for the votes, for the money, don't kid yourself.
I just don't want our President, to pander and become one of them, acting badly, not knowing facts and not reaching out. Should he reach out more to the people, absolutely, but he is trying. We need to respond. For my money, when he speaks, he speaks on subject matter that the people are interested in, not tax cuts for the rich to create more jobs. He does compromise, that's the art of politics, he has to. If he didn't many millions of the unemployed would be in the same boat as the 99ers have since last December. I would imagine, when you get down to it, to give in on a campaign promise to help many, had to hurt, but it was done for the people, not the top 2%. I am happy his speech will stand alone, he deserves the whole day's new cycle, not the happy nonsense he will have to share with the debaters. Since when do we have debates this far in advance, without all the announced candidates having thrown their hats in the ring. What is the content of this debate? (besides substituting as a sleeping pill for most of us). Will it be on jobs? I don't think so, as getthem so eloquently said, they don't care about us at all.

I don't think it will be Perry getthem. He just won't play anywhere but the South. The seniors won't go for him, the northeast won't get him either, the west cost won't follow him. They will have to put up a moderate like Huntsman or Romney. Perry and Bachman have a specific following of religious, gun slinger who want their country back, the rest of the country, while maybe looking for a more conservative approach than the Democrats, won't go for a Perry or Bachman, they are too out there. Santorum, Gingrich are done, I don't know why they are still in it. I am going out on a limb to say that Paul Ryan, Eric Cantor are done too. If you really listen to people and read local paper on line, they are not happy with this "my way or the highway" group. We just don't get that story on the major stations. The entire time leading up to the staw poll, everyone was Bachman, Bachman,Bachman even though every poll had her 10% behind Romney, who basically stopped campaigning. Then Perry announced, he's less whacky than she is, so they ultra conservatives jumped on his bus and she never got the bump from the straw poll. They are both campaigning in only areas where they will play well. They have yet to take a road trip to the Northeast, Florida or the West Coast. They are playing in their own sandboxes so to speak, no where else. Romney and Huntsman have. Like them or not, they are at least attempting to run a campaign not a news story. Now supposedly, the Palin's are coming back to town this weekend. Let's see what happens now. It's a joke. Not that I have ever been a strong republican, I have on occassion voted for one, mostly concerning local elections, but I will say, they never had a circus tent atmosphere like they are having now. They are just collecting money and giving anyone who can rake in the money an opportunity to throw their hat in the ring, unlike the old days, when they would pull money from candidates they didn't like or didn't think could win or it wasn't their turn. It's actually kind of comical. Real Republicans have to be really nervous right now. I don't feel sorry for them, but they caved to the "money". They were embarrassed by the money Pres. Obama raked in during 2008, they want it too, so anyone who can get them money is a candidate. Not a smart strategy if you ask me. My sister is in the UK right now and they constantly ask her about the hatred of the Republicans toward Obama and the Tea Party joke. They run stories about it all the time and they think it's like a soap opera. They think the Republicans are all prejudiced (wow ya think) and that the Tea Party is responsible for great losses of money worldwide due to their lack of cooperation. She is in finance, so she's not talking to just people on the street, it's some pretty high ups in finance. Some of the comments are sad but true.
