Re: RICK PERRY'S BFF'S
Ted Nugent is just kind of an ass. Of course I disagree with his politics but there are a lot of people that I disagree with and still like.
My problem with him personally is that he gives hunting a bad name. My father is a hunter and he comes from a long line of hunters. It just never really interested me. It's almost a spiritual thing to him and he has this seemingly complex code of ethics that he lives by. He eats everything he kills. I feel confident that Nugent eats his own kills as well but he portrays himself as some kind of thrill killer just to piss people off.
I also have a problem with him shooting cut outs of the president with a bow and arrow during his live shows. It's ok to disagree with the president but if I did that during the Bush years I would be in Gitmo right now. At that time it wasn't even ok to tell the truth about Bush but it seems to be ok for right wingers to say Obama needs a bullet in the head. This is just my opinion of course.
Rick Perry could actually win the election. I think he will be the nominee. He is a fascist and that will fit right in with the tea party and current crop of republicans. This will be a nightmare.

He does give hunting a bad name. While I am not a fan of hunting, it is here to stay no matter what. I think the boomers, seniors and future seniors of the world will not forget that Perry said that Social Security and Medicare were unconstitutional. Of course he is backtracking now. But who knows what he will do if he becomes President and has those lunatic Tea-baggers and people like Nugent behind him.

Re: RICK PERRY'S BFF'S
For the record: George W Bush is not really from Texas just like Hillary is not from New York.

There are several elites in the US: social, financial, occupational, educational, possibly even racial. If your gripe is with the Ivy League, there are a whole lot of Republicans you should add to your elitist list. If you want to eliminate elites, perhaps you should become a Communist.
How do you feel about the current crop of right-wing social engineers? Old Newt slipped momentarily and let the cat out of the bag with regard to present GOP efforts at radical social engineeering. Social engineering is not confined to the Democrats by a long shot.

...and Dick Cheney wasn't an inhabitant of Texas. He just lived and worked there. Thus, his Vice-Presidency was not unconstitutional.

Re: RICK PERRY'S BFF'S
I never said anything about unconstitutional. Don't put words in my mouth.
I'm simply saying that George W Bush, despite his "good ol boy" act, was most definitely not a Texan.
It was a response to the person not wanting more "cowboys" as a reason for not supporting Perry. A more valid reason is that he's a total douchebag, a wanker, a moron, and our real unemployment rate here in the capital of Texas is some 15%.

That's exactly correct and I agree completely with your post exception to the communist issue.

I was ribbing you on the Communist thing, Tristen. Even the Communists had and have an economic and power elite, strongly entrenched.

I know but don't tell anybody. I really do have a little socialism hiding in my brain every now and then. But if my Repub friends hear I'm associated with Communist anything they will take away my Repub card and I won't be able to get into the clubhouse anymore.

Remember when Ted Nugent, along with Tommy Shaw, Jack Blades, & Michael Cartelone, were Damn Yankees? Showing up at a black-tie event wearing camo don't surprise me at all.TOO OLD TO HIRE IN PA wrote:http://ed.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/08/16/7389354-rick-perry-ted-nugent-best-friends-forever

I haven't totally shaken my former Republicanism, and it does crop up once in a while. I don't care if this admission gets me kicked out of the Dem clubhouse. It reeks of cigar smoke from all those union guys.
My parents remain life-long GOP, but all their children are Democrats. When we have family get togethers, us kids (in my parents' eyes, we're still kids) spend so much time biting our tongues, it's a wonder we can eat anything.

My husband remembers this band. He saw Nugent once a long time ago when he opened a concert for Black Sabbath. I only know about Nugent from what I have read about him.
