I Am Going CRAZY
I'm a fed up unemployed military spouse. I've been unemployed for over a year now and I pretty much have lost it, to the point that my unemployment is ruining my marriage. I don't know what it's like to have a job anymore, my daily agenda consists of cooking and picking up after my husband.
I'm not the same anymore. I'm severely depressed and have anger issues. I graduated college a year ago and I had dreams of getting a better job, but now I have no job and am desperate for anything.
Today was my breaking point. I got into another huge fight with my husband (this has been going on for a while), apparently I am affecting his work life so I'm on the verge of trial separation and moving away to San Diego for 7 months, or however long it takes for things to get better. I'm so upset and drained and am losing faith, I can't live in Idaho anymore, especially without a job.

I'm sorry to hear the troubles you are going through. If it's any consolation I went through the same thing. It ultimately ruined my marriage.

Everyone married person runs into this when it comes to long term Unemployment. I probably set the record. Have faith and we will be praying for you. I am still married. Your spouse just needs to understand that this is the hardest thing that has happened to you. It really isn't if you have the proper support.
You need to go where the jobs are at for awhile. Even if its temporary in your field. That is where the hiring is. Try not to think this as not a separation. You most likely have limited opportunity in Idaho. Then you can come back when the economy improves.

Re: I Am Going CRAZY
I've had 5 interviews this year and still no job. I was talking to my friend about it and she suggested maybe my interviewing skills suck?! I don't understand, I've been to so many interviews and was able to get jobs fine when I lived in San Diego. I've been in group interviews and I've been to interviews where I was hired on the spot. I've even been told once that I have good composure by one of the managers who hired me before, so I really am just aggravated and confused as to why I'm suddenly doing everything wrong UGH.

First, congratulations on getting five interviews. Be proud of yourself.
If I may ask, how long ago was it that you lived in SD? Maybe a 7 month break would be good for your marriage and put things into perspective.
I am sorry that you are having such troubles. We are living in tough times.

Re: I Am Going CRAZY
I lived in SD from June 2006- June 2010 when I was attending college. During my four years there I was able to find work just fine. Then my husband was stationed in Idaho and I moved there with him after graduating. Everything just went downhill from there, I was never able to find a job again, even though I've been to several interviews, I don't understand why I'm not getting picked for ANY of these jobs, a few of them were even fast food jobs I applied for, even though I swore to myself that I would never work in fast food again after college.

Welcome to the forum, IAMFedUp.
I am so sorry to hear about your situation. Please know that it is not your fault. I dont know you, but I do know the unemployment situation in this country is the worst we've seen since the great depression. There are not nearly enough jobs for the millions that are unemployed.
Please consider the 5 interviews to be an achievement. Many people aren't even getting 1.
I agree with the others that say it might be good for your marriage if you can get away for a bit and try to find work else where. It stinks though, if the unemployed had the moral support they need from family and friends it would make the experience so much less stressful. Try to surround yourself with people who are positive. Some people just dont understand.
We are here for you, there are so many people here who have gone through what you have and can relate. Keep your head up!

Re: I Am Going CRAZY
I was hopeful, even though I despise phone interviews, I had about 4 over the last few weeks. They seemed to go well. A friend sent me an article about ahndling phone interviews. The feedback was positive and even I, a harsh critic, felt I did the best I could do. Yet when it came time to hear back from them, the silence was deafening. I had an in person interview, even a second interview and they said that i was on the very short list but no offer. Then I see the position reposted online.
Now I have another phone interview on Wednesday. I am feeling defeated and almost don't see the point since NOTHING seems to work. I even had a phone interview for an out of town job, which I never thought i would do but I am TOTALLY out of ideas. I've done everything, read every job blog, how to's, I'm exhausted mentally, physically & emotionally and my health has deteriorated from the stress.
