OK, I got ANOTHER interview
So after my failure trying to get hire by Apple retail, I got a call today from Costco. They want to interview me for a front end position. They said I will have to interviews simultaneously with two managers and if they sign off then I will have a third interview and either be hired or not. I have to work for Costco for a while because of everything I have heard about how they treat their crew.
I have never shopped at a costco in my life. Has anyone ever worked for them or have any idea what their dress code is? Any advice from anyone?

Re: OK, I got ANOTHER interview
I know people who have worked or Costco for years, they like it, big discounts on products, work scheduling is like other retail industries, good benies, most dress code is casual, regular pants, nice shirt, no ties that I've ever seen and I shop there as well. Best of luck with that.

I think I will just wear a pair of khaki pants and a button down shirt to the interview. I am more concerned because my hair might be too long. its past my ears but not to my shoulders. I am just going to pull it back out of my face. I am at the point to where I almost don't care. if I don't get it, I don't get it. I'm not changing who I am just to get this basic basic position.

Best of luck lendme!! Just wear your khaki's and a nice shirt and pull your hair back. You will be fine. That's what I see most of the managers and staff wear. Many have longer hair, earrings etc. I am sure they will tell you at the interview what the dress code is.
Please check in and let us know how it went. Will be saying a prayer.

Re: OK, I got ANOTHER interview
Just got back from the interview with costco. It went ok. We talked to for about 40 minutes. They gave the standard interview questions. I went into as if I had nothing to lose. Their business is based on customer service which I know a lot about. The last question was "If you are picked to come aboard Costco, what would be the biggest asset that you could bring to our business?". This was the make or break question. I told him my passion for customer service and going out of my way to help people. He objected to this by saying "I mean what can you bring from your other job experience?". I pushed back a little bit on that saying that my customer and passion for it is the greatest asset I could ever give them. I went on to point out that customer service is the ground floor of any business and you aren't going to go anywhere unless you are on it. I explained that it's not about selling a can of soup for someone, it's about creating an experience for your customers. It's about the big picture. It's not about selling a big ticket item, the customer has a bad experience, and never returns. Any business runs and grows on the big picture on getting your customers to come back.
If they don't run their business this way then I am not the right fit for the company anyway. I basically told them how to grow a business and I am confident in what I am saying so they will either like that or they won't.

Good for you LENDME! I applaud your honesty in answering that question, even though it probably was the make or break one. You deserve the job just for the great answer. It will be their loss if they don't hire you!

Great answer and it is the truth. In a job like that, a desire to provide the best customer service is more important than any other skill you've acquired during your career. Good for you for sticking with it!
Good luck! Hope you hear some positive news very soon!

You are so right Desperate. My husband was in a field that was not your typical customer service venue, but he had to deal with clients on a daily basis. He was in an office of about 6 people and whenever the clients called they always asked for him. I guess they liked the fact that he was pleasant and helpful and never talked down to them or made them feel like they were intruding on his going to lunch or taking a break! I had the same experience working in an insurance office, but in my case the customers told me the other lady there was a b*tch! LOL

Re: OK, I got ANOTHER interview
Thanks for the support friends. I think I gave a pretty good interview and if I don't get this then I am not sure I can get any job. This is a very basic position. It requires no real skill whatsoever.
I am thinking positively about it.

Re: OK, I got ANOTHER interview
UPDATE:
I found out today that Costco did a background check on me. When that comes back I will have a final interview. If that goes well I will be hired.
Now I only have to worry about what my old jobs might say about me. lol.

Re: OK, I got ANOTHER interview
Update.
I didn't get it. I received a rejection letter yesterday. I was told on Saturday by my contact who is actually in management at that costco store that they were waiting on a background check to come back before calling me for a second interview. I received the rejection on Monday which means they had to have mailed it on Friday. So either it came back and I failed somehow OR my contact was fed a line of crap.
Either way I didn't get in and I am out of time. I started packing today. I need to get started if I am going to be out of my house by the first. I have no more money to pay rent. the little bit I have has to last me to stay up on my bills as long as I can make it last.
Thanks so much for all the support friends, you have no idea how much I appreciate it.
