Got the Job
First topic message reminder :
I should be hearing about an offer for a low level federal job very soon. (But after 90 days I am eligible to apply for internal announcements). An HR specialist sent me an email a few minutes ago saying I was selected! It's not an official offer as I have to get the call from the local HR. The email said they are trying to contact everyone to confirm and some are starting next week!
I'm holding back some until I get the official call, but it looks good. I'm frankly in shock!
I decided I was sick of banging my 56 year old head against the private sector wall and figured my best chance was a federal job. I was right.

Re: Got the Job
Thanks everyone. This morning I received (count 'em) NINE email attachments of government forms to fill out by Monday. I have a million things to do and my family is loaning me gas money and to replace my broken down sneakers as I will not get paid until 8/17. I'll be on my feet all day so I need good shoes. I'm open to brand recommendations. If you send me a PM, it will not clog the forum.

I've had New Balance cross trainers and Sketchers work shoes, as long as you buy something w/ really good padding (inner/outer soles).

Try this web site, these are shoes worn by people who stand on their feet all day and are slip resistant.

Those shoes and boots look great! They may be better suited when I have time to take a chance on ordering shoes online. https://www.shoesforcrews.com/
I read the Sketcher type reviews and one woman said they were hard to use on ladders. I like that there are a lot of reviews.
Thanks for the tip!
