Weekly First Time Claims fall to 391,000.
This is just in from Fox News an no further details. We'll have to wait until the official stats are released by the US DOL in a few minutes.

It is official - just out.

Again, in my opinion, with the shrinking number of jobs, the claims will drop. Also, anyone that was re-employed an laid off again is not included in this number. They are not "first time claims" - they just reactivated their old ones.
I wish the DOL would come forward and state the facts rather than spin the information to create the illusion that our economy is improving.

First, glad to see some familiar faces back here again, and that this site was re-opened. It saddened me that the last site closed so suddenly. It infuriated me how the moderators were being treated the way they were by trolls. forcing them to shut down. Those trolls will get what's coming to them 3-fold, along with those responsible for keeping the unemployed in the situation they're in!
It took being in this situation to realize how the government cooks the books in order to lie to the people. I always knew the government lied to us, but never thought they would commit outright fraud by manipulating key data that our overall economy relies on to function!
I am furious beyond words at what this government is doing to its own people. GOOD WILL EVENTUALLY PREVAIL!.

The dropping of first time claims doesn't really mean anything. It just means that less people were laid off this week. This number has to start going down at some point.

All LIES and SPIN If you don't like the numbers, change it to reflect a number you do like.

unfortunately things are not going to change! If they honestly told the truth that may or would cause consumer confidence to drop and stall a recovery! But again by distorting the reality and numbers to their advantage truly stabs us and causes more pain! They do not care... They honestly have placed many homeless and broke and exhausted 99er's is a world of hey! Its up to you to sick or swim! Without a life ring!!

The problem is that they can report whatever numbers they wish to report. The simple truth is that nobody is hiring and that simple fact is going to start having a heavy impact on the stock market. Looks like the Dow dropped 40 points ...

It means brand new claims by someone who has been laid off for the first time. If you were re-employed, like a temp or seasonal work and then lost your job, you would have an open claim. These people are NOT counted in this number.
