The other bit of info to be aware of is that Twitter will be tracking what is trending before and during the town hall. With that it mind it pays to write questions that use certain words. If you’re a 99er, you may want to use “99er,” “unemployment,” “HR589,” “jobs,” and so on. If a certain topic is trending it is likely that a question on that subject will be selected. Obviously thousands of questions are rolling through Twitter… so the more questions sent in on unemployment better the chances and unemployment question will be asked. Flood the box?

And one last thing: The President will not answer in 140 characters. He will answer questions from Twitter users but will do so by spoken word. That matters because this President tends to give looooooong answers at press conferences. The longer his answers, the fewer questions will get in. President Obama will answer via microphone but will not be tweeting or typing online. The event will take place in the East Room at 2PM EST.

Also, I read through the #AskObama stream on Twitter and I understand the frustrations of my fellow unemployed, but am worried that some of them are shooting themselves in the foot because they are tweeting very inflammatory and political things from their twitter accounts with their own real names on it. Employers look at this stuff!! Be careful of what you put out on the internet! Employers don't want to hire angry people who rant at the government, even if what is written is 200% justified (which, of course, when it comes to our common plight, it most definitely is). Remember the hiring bias that is out there. I don't want to anyone lose a job opportunity over this.

Thanks for the reminder regarding tweeting political rants. People don't realize their name is attached most of the time. We set rules for this and asked members to be respectful when asking questions and will not tweet anything in poor taste. Why do that - it won't get answered!
