Congressional Progressive Caucus Speakout for Good Jobs Tour - Get Involved!
Here is your chance to get involved! Tell them your story, attend a rally, make your voice heard!
The Speakout for Good Jobs Now tour will feature stops in numerous cities across America giving Americans the chance to speak out about how the economy is affecting them. Members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus will listen to what everyday Americans have to say and take that back to Washington with them as they continue to fight to reinvigorate the American Dream — the ability to put in a day’s hard work for good wages and benefits so we can provide our children with a better future.Tell us your story. Are you a single mom struggling to make ends meet? Are you a young college graduate working a part-time, minimum wage job? Are you unemployed or under-employed? Tell us about your situation and why you believe we need to make it easier to help Americans earn a fair wage for a hard day's work. You can also, using the appropriate box below, submit the link to a YouTube video where you tell us your story via video. Be sure to tag your video with "SpeakOut."

stop outsourcing jobs and hiring foreigners would be a good place to start

Re: Congressional Progressive Caucus Speakout for Good Jobs Tour - Get Involved!
This is the Congressional Progressive Caucus - the one's who are pushing the "People's Budget", which unemployment extensions are included in. They are doing this tour to garner support for this cause. If no one gets involved, they have nothing to make their case with against Ryan's "Path to Ruin".
We can sit here and throw stones at the legislators in Washington all day, but that hasn't, and won't, get things done! People need to get involved, millions of them, or we will be stuck in this situation (or worse) for the rest of our lives.

Re: Congressional Progressive Caucus Speakout for Good Jobs Tour - Get Involved!
I don't think we can afford not to get involved with anyone who will extend benefits and push for "real job creation".
Will be glad to send our letter and my story.

Told my story, registered and signed up for updates on local events. Reps. Brady and Fattah in Phila were/are co-sponsors of HR589 and very sympathetic to the unemployed.

Re: Congressional Progressive Caucus Speakout for Good Jobs Tour - Get Involved!
I received a reply this morning asking for my story in my personal email. I resent it and am waiting for the date in July when they come to Philadelphia. I have made contact in the past with Bob Brady and C. Fattah. Resent our letter, told them we were posting this on our site and thanked them for supporting. Then I asked them the hard question, could you please tell us is HR589 dead or do we have a chance as some relief.

Re: Congressional Progressive Caucus Speakout for Good Jobs Tour - Get Involved!
Representative Cleavors, acting chairman of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) is also asking for our involvement/opinions on job creation, as he just spoke out about it with their intended plans for this summer. I mentioned to one of our mod's in a PM that perhaps we can formulate a video w/ 4 basic bullet points on specific job creation interventions that would help us, focusing on both short/long term, showing him that we are organized and serious about our problem. Of course, we know that one of the key points has to be immediate emergency financial assistance for the long term UI exhaustees enabling them to pay for basic emergency bills from past 14 months up until now.
I also believe we need a longitudinal study tracking the 99ers from a leading economist as its overdue now (14 months and going strong), and would reveal outcomes based results of tracking amount of those in poverty, evicted, homeless, shelters, bankruptcies, diagnosed mental health diseases etc... UpJohn research has been involved in past on some levels for UI and there's new subcomittee being formed by McKenzie group on job creation just announced last thur. at beginning of CSpans live televised hearing on economic development and job creation.

Just to add, Cleavors video can be accessed on the crewof42.com site, and is less than 2 minutes in length, worth checking out for us 99ers.

I like the idea of a longitudinal study. It should include, as much as possible, research on crimes committed against the homeless & unemployed, populations and should also create an open understanding of the term econocide as it applies to deaths and injuries related to being homeless and/or jobless. It is happening, and it is being ignored.

Re: Congressional Progressive Caucus Speakout for Good Jobs Tour - Get Involved!
totally in agreement there with including the relationship between social and behavior types of outcomes such as crime, deaths, re-peat offendors, bankruptcies, loss possesions (automobiles) etc...diagnosed mental health diseases etc... , and there are tons that had saved up and were not frivoshly spending but rather have used up all life savings already etc... Just think this type of factual evidence has been needed for some time, especiaily now as we finally talking about specific job intervention plan but also w/ little to no movement on HR 589.

I'll be damned if I'm going to cry for the likes of them- I did it once. They are not better than me or you. They never will be. AND we would never do to anyone else that which has been done to us.

Bumping! PLEASE, get involved with this "Speakout for Jobs" Tour by emailing them your story!
THERE ARE ONLY 18 WORKING DAYS LEFT UNTIL CONGRESS RECESSES FOR AUGUST BREAK! They will not return until Sept. 6! Can you wait that long?
This is our chance to be heard - please take 5 minutes and at least let them know THERE ARE NO JOBS AND WE CAN'T WAIT until they decide to address the issue!
When they return in September, the whole debate about extending the existing extensions is going to start all over again! The 99ers will once again be left out!
The CPC needs our help! Please, help them help us by contacting them through the link above today!
