A show about how this country used to be
While on YouTube I happened to find clips of this excellent show called American Dreams. I watched it religiously when it was on NBC, but apparently not many did and it was cancelled after three seasons. It was a show set in the 60's and one of the main characters was a dancer on American Bandstand. What was very interesting about this show was that the father was a self made business man who owned his own electronics store. His employee/later business partner was black and his son was a good friend of the American Bandstand worker.
I bring this up because I've come to believe this show was cancelled so that people wouldn't remember how things used to be. The business owner treated his employees great and it was nice to see a business owner. You would never see someone own an electronic store today.
The reality is the media doesn't want you to watch good shows for the most part. They want you to watch trashy reality shows. Interesting to note that this was NBC which later aired Outsourced.

Exactly, they don't want people to think they should be treated well at work. I have canclled cable for $ reasons and don't miss it ONE bit. Makes me wonder why I ever had it. Cable is an exercise in brainwashing.

It kills when I think of how things used to be....change is good and necessary, I get that, but there are some things just arent meant to change and in doing so its bringing down this country.

I don't have tv anymore and I don't miss it at all. I'm doing more reading and listening to the radio. It's funny but you can learn to do without things you once thought you needed.

I definitely agree we are being brainwashed, and it's important to fight it. This show is very good and I'll be honest it kind of shocked me that small businesses were more common then. My mom tells me when she was a girl in the 50's there weren't many supermarkets. One guy ran a meat market, another a dry canned store, another a dairy, etc.

That's why I love watching Mad Men, a show on A&E set in the 60's. Ahhhhh, give me the good old days when every manager needed a secretary and you didn't have to work for five, six, or seven different people.

Not to mention that there wasn't all this pc garbage. Don't get me wrong I think the racism and sexism was wrong but now it's overboard.
