Police Arrest 5 More Activists for Feeding Homeless In Orlando
Orlando police arrested five more activists from behind a makeshift buffet table at Lake Eola Park on Wednesday evening, bringing to a dozen the number charged in the past week with violating city restrictions on feeding the homeless.
The members of the group Food Not Bombs were ladling out corn on the cob, rice, beans and watermelon to about 35 people when they were handcuffed. About two dozen activists and homeless people booed and chanted "Food is a right, not a privilege" as they were loaded into a waiting police van.

Figures it was in Governor Scott's state! Nothing that happens there under his leadership surprises me anymore. And he has the nerve to call himself a Christian!

This is disgusting. Doing good deeds and get arrested. What is wrong with this world?

Re: "Dont feed the homeless..."
OMG!!! What is wrong with people??? How could anyone arrest someone for feeding the needy?? They had the money to pay all those police but not help these people-possibly some of our members!!! Utterly inhuman. I think I am going to cry or vomit or both.

One of my followers on twitter told me that Cuba just started giving EVERYONE in the country food vouchers. The vouchers are good for everyday necessities like coffee, suger, butter, milk, cheese, bread, etc. NO ONE will go hungry in that country.
Im wondering why is this country so afraid to help its own people who struggling? Its disgusting

I do not like what I am seeing, and on so many levels. It is very clear to me that the idea of life being precious is a lie. "In Brotherhood from sea to shining sea" is a lie. Human rights is becoming a lie, and it gives China a good chuckle. America doesn't take care of its own! The United States is losing its credibility with the rest of the world, and it doesn't need to happen.
Maybe political parties should be banned for obstructing justice.

The city has an ordinance restricting feeding the homeless, this is disturbing.

The governor sounds like a fake Christian. A true Christian helps the less fortunate, that is what being a Christian is about.

Re: "Dont feed the homeless..."
Here in San Diego, we had a guy who went around giving bottle water to the homeless during the hot months and they busted him due to a city ordnance. Homeless now are simply put "NOT in my neighborhood". It's sad. Every time I hear the BS of "WE ARE THE RICHEST most Powerful nation on Earth" crap, yet we cannot take care of our homeless, create jobs, and support the general welfare of this nation, I cringe.

Re: "Dont feed the homeless..."
Couldn't agree more munster. We have it here in Upper Darby PA and Philadelphia PA as well, not in my neighborhood is the silent reason we don't have more homeless shelters and half way houses. They busted 150 of us abut three years ago because we were feeding the homeless out of our cars at the Upper Darby Bus/Train Terminal. They drove them back to the city limits and the city drove them into the park where drugs and bodies are a constant, along with abandoned cars, to say the least, beyond unchristian and non-human. Only time in my life I was taken in. We were all released and told to stop or they would press charges, we went back every day until we found where they had actually bussed them to.

Re: "Dont feed the homeless..."
This will sound sad, but I've thought at times Cuba is a better country than the USA, especially during Bush's presidency.
This wasn't in this town, about 20 miles away, but there was a controversy because a church wanted to open a homeless shelter during the night and people complained. In this town one of the social groups wanted to open a shelter for CHILDREN and people complained. They claimed it was because worried about crime but I knew it was race. This town is lily white and most of these kids are black. Great Christians these people are when they are racist.
