How many weeks out?
Recently saw NBC discussing unemployment with a chart showing up to (horrors) 27 weeks of people being out of work! Isn't that awful? 27 weeks.
Sent them an email and told them they need a bigger chart!

Stopped counting but my nightmare began in Sept. 2008. Few interviews. No offers.

Re: How many weeks out?
Mine is 7 years of unemployment where it is broken up with intermittent Temporary Assignments. Finished up May 4, 2011 after a month of work. If I added all up, I doubt it would be more than 3 years I worked out of the last 7. Remember if you work 8 hours some place that is a qualifying week in Ohio.
Believe it or not I am still an exhaustee. I worked 10 weeks since September, 2010. Need 10 more weeks before I can restart a claim.

January 2008 - Two interviews total. One at a temp agency I signed up with and they never found me anything even though they said they had jobs, and another one at an office that was in my field, but didn't get the job.
Still not seeing an new opportunities either.

Yahoo is asking for status and stories:
• How did you lose your job in the first place?
• What was the hardest thing about being out of work so long?
• Were potential employers wary of hiring you when they found out you hadn't had a job in while?
• How helpful were jobless benefits in keeping you and your family afloat? Did you exhaust them?
• Are you seeing more competition for openings than you did when the economy was booming?
• Did you find work in the end? If not, are you still looking? Or have you given up?
• If you ultimately landed a job, how did you do it? Any useful tips?
• How should we go about making it easier for the long-term unemployed to find work?

Kathleen, do you have a link to this? I'd like to start a new thread so this doesn't get buried. The more exposure we get, the better at this point. We have been forgotten for too long now.Kathleen wrote:Yahoo is asking for status and stories:
