GOP 'rooting for failure' of U.S. economy
A top political adviser to President Barack Obama charged on Sunday that Republicans are so eager to wound him politically they're hoping that the U.S. economy continues to sputter.
"I thought it was almost unseemly on Friday to watch the Republicans basically rooting for failure on those unemployment numbers, reveling in the idea that things are not going well," former White House Communications Director Anita Dunn said on CNN's "State of the Union." "This is a time when the American people are looking to their leaders to get together to actually meet the challenges here."

With 15 million unemployed and another 8 million 99ers. If Obama just stood up and said he would help by pushing for another tier and a jobs program he could lock up 2012.
I am starting to think he is not as smart as he says he is and he HAS to fire that jerkoff goolsby.

Obama if he wants to get re elected has to campaign real hard. He has to say how the Reps voted down several plans to benefit you but they kept there tax breaks for the rich. He needs to humiliate them and do a good job at it. McConnell and Boehner have made it there goal to make Obama a one term president.

Bumps in the road????? Easy for those with a job to say. For those of us without one-they're sinkholes.

Camp needs to be replaced.
Here is what Camp had to say on Friday.
Camp Statement on May Jobs Report
Friday, June 03, 2011
Washington, DC – Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp (R-MI) issued the following statement after the Department of Labor released the May jobs report:
"These numbers show that employers are still worried about what is going on in Washington, and, like many Americans, they are hunkering down and bracing for what comes next. Until we restore some semblance of confidence – and that starts with significantly cutting spending in Washington – this economy will continue to limp along.
"Not since the Great Depression has our unemployment rate been this high for this long, and yet the President has failed to address the issues that are making it hard for families and employers to get by. He has not offered a plan to deal with high gas and energy prices, there’s no plan from the White House to cut spending and he has off-loaded discussions on the debt. Worse yet, when the President does wade-in, his focus is on raising taxes – taxes that would directly hit the very investors and small businesses we need to create more jobs. The only thing as bad for job creation as higher taxes is the threat of higher taxes. Every time the President or someone in his Administration talks about raising taxes it becomes harder for the 14 million unemployed Americans to find a job.
"We can get Washington and this economy back on track. House Republicans have offered bold solutions to deal with America’s debt and economic crisis. We have called for a total overhaul of the tax code in order to reduce the complexities and costs that put American employers and workers at a disadvantage. We have pushed for enactment of the long-pending trade agreements with South Korea, Panama and Colombia which would increase exports by $13 billion and create up to 250,000 jobs for American workers. The only thing standing in the way of these job-creating policies is the President. Given today’s jobs report, I hope it is clear to the President that we cannot allow politics to paralyze Washington. It is time for the President to actively work with House Republicans to cut spending, get our debt under control and get America back to work."

Isn't he the one holding up the H.R. 589? Keep calling him and asking him why he can talk about people not having jobs, but can sit on a bill providing some relief to those who lost all their unemployment.

Re: GOP 'rooting for failure' of U.S. economy
You're right that Obama should stand up and insist on another tier and a jobs program. The problem is, the budget and spending on those programs are controlled by the House, which is currently under the control of the Republicans. Unless they agree, there's not much that any president can do.
But he sure should be making a stink......the House has done nothing to help in this crisis since the Republicans took control in January. They've only pushed for continued tax cuts for the rich, defunding of NPR and Planned Parenthood, and other positions that only benefit their wealthy friends and co-religionists. They've made it plenty clear that they'll do anything they can to make the president fail, using us, the unemployed, to further their political ambitions. Doesn't matter how many people they hurt, as long as they get back into power. I'm really discouraged...doesn't seem like anyone is on our side anymore. Screw'em.

Re: GOP 'rooting for failure' of U.S. economy
I've noticed lately on Twitter when an R tweets about the unemployed, it'll be something, for example, like how the unemployed can't even afford gas to find a job, then they proceed to tweet the drill baby drill mantra and completely ignore the unemployed. they tie us in with everything and then proceed to push tax cuts or whatever instead of 589 or a decent bill. If the R's are so concerned about the unemployed being able to afford to pay for gas then where is H.R. 589? So while at first glance it appears the R's are sympathetic to the unemployed, what they are really doing is backing off the demonizing of the unemployed and using us as a talking point to further their agenda and get rid of Obama too.
If the R's were really concerned about us, we would have a jobs bill and not a bill for another 10% tax cut for the top and we would have never had any gaps in UI until unemployment was down to the 6% range. They have just adapted to using us as a political talking point with no interest in doing anything at all for the unemployed except use us to score points politically with whoever is dumb enough to fall for it and vote them back in.
