The Missouri Senate moved a step forward on Thursday toward a compromise that would restore unemployment benefits to about 10,000 people. The Senate reached an agreement to cut the state's commitment to jobless benefits from 26 weeks to 20 weeks, breaking a logjam caused by a Republican attempt to send federal money back to Washington.
