America today has plenty of rich and super-rich. But it has far more families who did all the right things, but who still have no real security. Going to college and finding a good job no longer guarantee economic safety. Paying for a child's education and setting aside enough for a decent retirement have become distant dreams. Tens of millions of once-secure middle class families now live paycheck to paycheck, watching as their debts pile up and worrying about whether a pink slip or a bad diagnosis will send them hurtling over an economic cliff.

This conversation is starting to go on a downward spiral...really girls, don't you understand you're being duped? Reagan pulled this crap with his "welfare queens" in the 80s. Getting us to fight each other over the scraps while they feast in the palace is the oldest trick in the book.
Do I feel like some have gotten over by cheating while I played by the rules
and suffer? You bet! It's the top 1% and corporations who don't pay their taxes. Please wake up!

Um, my friend was screwing over the taxpayers. She was selling her food stamps for drugs and was using her welfare money to buy cars. I don't approve of any freeloaders, whether it's a CEO or a welfare queen like her. As for welfare, there is a lot of fraud in the system, I've seen it.

Wow, she's really missing her calling in life, then. Even if she lives in California, where a family of three gets about $680 a month, she must have been getting some smokin' deals on those cars!

I SAW it myself. She was also making money on her stripping job and her boyfriend was giving her money. She was a freeloader and I reported her. I would do it again gladly. I've seen MANY welfare freeloaders here, including last year where I saw a woman trying to buy electronics with welfare. Fraud is VERY common, and many people on welfare also sell drugs or live with someone giving them money. I am not saying everyone on welfare is like that but many are and I report everyone who abuses the system.
Btw I am no longer friends with her but not because of this. I am no longer friends because she was unpredictable and starting swearing at me in public.

I've seen it too- my sister in law with 5 kids-suck the system while being "unmarried" but have the guy live with you, give you money, while collecting food stamps too. I SEEN it too, no BS. Those who know how to play the system consider the welfare payment as a simple supplement to other forms of untraceable income. Having said that, the big corporation are also robbing the system blind. I have a problem with both ends cheating. Fighting over scraps, no, just don't like cheats, whether they are big or little. And when a welfare recipient is given preferece because they create a tax credit ( the whole welfare to work thing from Clinton) and are hired over someone who has stayed off the dole, it's a bit much to handle while I am also angry at the corporations who caused the bigger problems.

Agreed. I don't know why we shouldn't hate any freeloaders whether they are welfare queens or corporate welfare queens. I hate anyone abusing the system. People like my friend and your sister in law abuse the system and often prevent those who need it for getting help.
