HR 589 Progress! Congressional Contact Information! Details to follow for action planned on Mon. & Tues.
First topic message reminder :
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/03/22/99ers-bill-meeting-long-term-unemployed_n_838970.html
Republican leaders in the House of Representatives have agreed to meet with two Democrats to discuss longshot legislation for the long-term unemployed, the members' offices confirmed Tuesday.
Reps. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) and Bobby Scott (D-Va.) introduced legislation earlier this year to provide 14 additional weeks of unemployment benefits to Americans who've been out of work for six months or longer. Lee and Scott have spoken frequently about the struggles of so-called "99ers" -- people who still haven't found work after exhausting the maximum 99 weeks of benefits available in some states.

It wasn't up to Rep Lee to decide when the meeting would be, it was up to Boehner and crew. I'm sure Lee would want it today if possible.
Everyone needs to bombard the GOP in the house with calls emails faxes, they are our ticket to getting this bill passed.

I don't know why, but "next few weeks to discuss"? It's nice to know that this is moving forward but while I don't know how everyone else feels about this, but I have a personal problem when it takes forever for Congress to move forward on unemployment compensation yet they can move like lightning when it concerns repealing health care, dealing with the short term CR or defunding NPR when literally millions of Americans are suffering today.
Forgive my rant for a minute but exactly why are they still content with allowing Americans to continue to suffer while they continue to do very little work and to prolong this for as long as possible.
This is going to take a little while. I know a lot of you are totally out of money and have been but you just have to hold on the best you can. The political machine is very slow. After this we have to get 60 votes in the senate so we still have a long ride to go.

Will be emailing and calling all day. I have been all week as well. I think the Speaker needs to hear from all of us, and I mean all of us. This sounds like a great effort and hopefully will get his attention. Bury him in paper.

Im in. All UFF2 tweeps need to get in on the action. Its now or never. Repubs are losing ground with the American people and are starting to feel the heat. If anything it would be politically beneficial for them to have the 99ers counted again to make POTUS look bad.
Maybe we should use this as a tactic when contacting them??

Re: HR 589 Progress! Congressional Contact Information! Details to follow for action planned on Mon. & Tues.
Thanks to whoever came up with this idea of calling Boehner and Cantor on Mon and Tue. I do not have time to go back and see from where the idea came but thank you.
I borrowed the idea and put it on our Take Action page at the American 99ers Union site.
Gregg and I have both had personal issues to deal with and have not had much time to spend on this so we appreciate that you all are carrying the movement forward in this way!
(If the page at the A99U site does not show the March 28 and 29 action at the top of the Take Action page there, then try refreshing your page or clearing your cache. It did not show for me until I cleared my cache (Control-Shift-Delete with most browsers).

I will do what I can to help our cause.
I do have a problem with these politicizations sending billions over seas to help others but when it comes to US the Tax payers there is a long-winded debate.
But to send people in other countries help they do it in seconds with the stroke of a pen.... What the heck?
