Working a short term temp job while on unemployment
I live in North Carolina and I've finally managed to find a little temp job that is scheduled to last maybe 2-6 weeks. My unemployment is scheduled to run out in about 4-6 weeks so here is my question. I know you aren't ''suppose" to be able to draw unemployment while your working but I've heard of some people still do it untill that get settled into the job and figure out how long it may last. In my case, I'm getting ready to start a job that may not last but a couple weeks so if I stop filing my unemployment now and then 2-3 weeks from now I lose that job then what happens? I want to find a regular job and try to get off unemployment but it would be nice if I could like freeze my claim and pick in back up once this job ends but it's my understanding that once you tell the unemployment office that you have a job they don't care if it's only temporary or not ,they close your claim and then you have to reopen a new one if something happens to that job but here in NC I think you have to work somewhere for atleast 90 days before you're even religble for unemployment again so i don't know what I should do. If I draw unemployment on top of working then I know that could get me in trouble but then If I lose my job and have nothing to fall back on then I'm in trouble too I think cause I got bills to pay just like anybody else which btw drawing unemployment on top of working could help me get caught up on those so I really need some advice here?!?!?
I know the right thing to do is not try to cheat the system and just let my unemployment go but knowing this job is just temporary really worries me about what is gonna happen in a few weeks when I'm out of work again but only this time I'm not drawing unemployment and have no money coming in at all! I really don't wanna cheat but everyone knows times are freaken tough so Please help me figure this out! Thank You!
