States cutting unemployment benefits: the good, the bad and the ugly. H.R 589
Last week saw a number of state actions regarding unemployment benefits. Some actions were helpful while others could be punishing to the unemployed and future unemployed. In fact, some actions were good, some were bad and one was simply ugly.

I seriously doubt that article. The reason being is that Speaker Boehner probably has seen the letter. However, as usual, Senators and Representatives don't normally discuss bills or votes on bills if they haven't been decided yet.
It works the same for companies who are the victims of lawsuits ... they don't comment on something if there isn't an agreement for it.
Also, I believe that he might not have actually seen it yet since he does have staff who pre-screens "agenda-related" items.
It's just going to be a long process because Republicans don't want anything to happen before the week-long recess.

This is free money to the states, it does not make sense that they would not extend it to the unemployed, they cannot use the money for any other reason.
The problem now is that we have 29 republican governors, 20 democratic governors and 1 independent.
That is one sorry STATE OF AFFAIRS...

Our country is doomed. The Republicans are using this newfound power to write off a vast majority of voters because if they can get those voters to stay out of the voting booths by denying them any kind of Federal assistance, they prevent Democrats from winning in 2012.
The problem with that thinking is that we aren't going to make it to the 2012 elections. We'll be lucky if we manage to make it out of 2011 because I suspect that our country is going to be knee deep in a nationwide protest and uprising.
The Republicans are angering too many Americans far too quickly and that groundswell of anger is building up fast ... I think we're going to see the beginning stages of a revolt start to take root by this summer.
