How to obtain proof that unemployment benefits have ended when applying for food stamps
Hi everyone, I lost my job due to massive layoffs in Feb. 2011 and exhausted all NY state benefits. I have continued looking for any type as long as it's legit and nothing yet so I had to apply for government benefits and have been denied due to not being able to provide proof that my unemployment benefits ended. I provided the paper showing when I first applied which shows the start date and end period plus the letter showing that after the 6 weeks my benefits would be done.
I don't know what else to do or how to get a paper showing proof from the unemployment office since they will not provide me with one.
If anyone has any information, please share, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you very much and have a glorious day.

Perhaps call UI and ask them to generate a letter to you indicating that your claim has been exhausted - and showing when you are eligible again.
Secondly, go online and print off the detailed payments you received. The basic claim info should also be there, including the expiry date.
This statement should show a balance of zero.

None of that makes sense...I never had to do that. When you apply you are providing your social security number, and that's how they can figure out whether you are still collecting. If worse comes to worse, send a letter to your state rep, and explain to them what you are required to do...they should help you. I have found that the people or management of the UI office is often no better than other businesses....they don't have a clue either.
