Do You Know?
Hi All,
Unfortunately, the teaching job that I had ended today as I was laid off due to lack of enrollment. My question is the following:
I was on UI benefits before taking this job for a little over a year and a half using all of the extensions (these were cut short due to congress's bad decision during a Recession/Depression). I was only at my new job for a month. Can I get UI benefits having only worked there for one month after having used up all of my extensions from my last claim?
Thanks so much!

Re: Do You Know?
It depends on the how your state determines eligibility for unemployment benefits. In some, you have to work a certain number of weeks/quarters and in others it is based on your earnings. How benefits are calculated are described on the unemployment office website. You should start there.
Good luck, I hope it was enough to start a new claim for you. Sorry to hear about the lay-off, but welcome back. You are among friends!

Thank you so much!
I just looked it up on the EDD website and it does depend upon the "base period," however, it also has an "alternative" and in that you needed to have earned at least $1,300 which I did so I am praying that I at least get a little help from them!
Yikes!
