Re: PowerPoint present your resume
Good idea!
I had an interview last night which turned out to be a group interview of about twenty people. The employer first gave a long presentation about the position and then had each one of us take turns getting up and speaking about why we should be hired! It was a bit scary, but it certainly gave me the impression that public speaking is important to many employers as they want to know how you present yourself...

Im working on one now in Powerpoint. Its a bit difficult, have to be very creative, watching other presentations to see how to do it.
If you don't have MS Office, there is a free office Suite called OpenOffice. Its very good. I use both.

Re: PowerPoint present your resume
Is that something different?
The Open Office that I downloaded which is OOo-dev has presentations but I can't get it to take my videos. I've been trying and it's frustrating...

Re: PowerPoint present your resume
I tried those steps repeatedly and got a message that the file was wrong. I've Googled it and this seems to be the case often with other people also...
Thanks though!

Re: PowerPoint present your resume
I'm sorry but I've seen this topic over and over and I don't understand it's purpose. What are you two trying to say..
A. Hunter has a few sites that he has given for resume writing?
B. He is suggesting to do the resume in PowerPoint and send it out to a common flip page site like slideshare (which accepts a lot more than PowerPoint)
C. PowerPoint resumes are the new thing? Ha! 13th bin
D. Mac OS apps are inferior to PowerPoint... open source my headache! Who wrote the book on style? Gates? Ha!
Go Daddy or iPage a simple website if that's your fancy. It won't be theirs unless you are a graphic artist (and then some).
Sorry. Grrrrgh

No,
I've been reading websites and the powerpoint resume's kept popping up and I investigated and saw that many people were doing them--not all graphic artists--since an resume is not to get you a job, but to get you an interview. Since most resumes written in Times Roman 12 pt font, are common and the person receiving yours are receiving hundreds like it, chances are it could be passed up. Just another way to stand out from the crowd.
