Haven't received my work search form (From X - Maryland Members, please read)
Do I have a reason to be scared? Will call them tomorrow but need to file this coming Sunday Dec 11 for the last two weeks. I'm going nuts!

Hi Rhiannonj,
I'm sorry I'm just seeing your question. I am not familiar with your state's procedure but I think it's best that you call them first thing in the morning. I would hope it's just a snail mail problem... sure it is.
I see that you're from Maryland? Are there any Maryland members "out there" that are having the same problem? If so, please post that you are - in this thread.
Rhiannonj... I'm pretty sure that one of my fellow ADMODS will provide some guidance in the morning.
Until then, I hope you do not worry much.
Take care,
Jeff

rhiannon. Every state is experiencing overload. When certain state's triggered off, they moved staff to other areas and now have to bring them back. To get back on in a state that just triggered on, you have to make the initial call, they will search and then forward the forms. Once you have received them, they will give you exact instructions to fill out the form and mail it back. Most have a do not postmark prior to date, please, don't do it. Hold it and mail it on that date.
It is taking some states weeks to get caught up. If you filed your initial claim and still not received the forms, you have to call your service center, it is like nuclear hold as they are swamped, but it's too important not to wait and speak to a rep. Make sure, if you form is overdue, you note on the form the date you received it. They are forgiving late filings due to the overload they are experiencing. However, it is always possible with the Christmas season upon us, they were lost or seriously delayed. Make the call rhi.
In case you should get a really helpful rep, who will do it over the phone, have your searches ready with whatever info required, Name, address, phone number, contact or HR, fax number or email/web address.
All members from every state, please, if you can't make copies of your forms, please, keep a record of the information in case you are audited. I was on my federal claim and they did randomly verify certain weeks.
Hope this helps.

The work search forms are not contingent for you receiving ui every 2 weeks they do have a week ending date. I am in the " Not Good " prospect of being recalled to work, have to search and record four searches per week. I continued to receive the "purple" work search records routinely for 6 weeks then they stopped , after a week figured i had better call , said " they were on the way " after 2 weeks i called told them I knew that 58,000 folks were on EB very kind lady sent one ( handwritten) you are told to keep a copy because your info will be discussed with you randomly, not a formal copy they told me as long as you have the specific infotrmation.

Sounds like you might not be the only one... I think oceanboy has suggested sending in the same information "handwritten" or typed as an alternative. I don't want to steer you one way or the other, incorrectly, but if you have to I would suggest this. Just explain that you did not receive the forms in the mail.
But keep trying to get someone. I know you'll probably worry until you talk to them anyways. No need to worry.
Please keep us updated.

sorry i am not being clear, I have a handwritten original of my contacts which I keep , i then copy this onto the EB work search, I did not receive an original with a UPC/barcode they then sent me one handwritten without computerized info . Be patient when you call it takes a while to talk to a (compassionate) person

Hi Tom,
I've been trying to get through to someone in customer service for 45 minutes now. It just keeps ringing and ringing. I didn't get the recorded message saying that all reps are busy and to call back later so I don't want to hang up if I'm in some kind of queue.

Hello rhiannonj, I tried a lot of different phone numbers, they all end up pretty much the same, all ending with with that electronic music ? I tried the number for the area that my office was located, it seems as though if you chose the option for an operator it seems to hang up quicker, if you hear," All operators are currently busy " a couple, maybe more you will eventually talk to someone I bet I was disconnected several (10) times sorry i can't be of more help, frustrating would be an understatement !

I've been calling the 800 number in Baltimore. On the website that's the number they say to call for a replacement work search form. What number did you call?

Ok, that number is for Kent County. I'll try calling the St. Mary's County number tomorrow. I was calling 1-800-827-4839 in Baltimore. Maybe that's why I couldn't get through because lots of other peeps probably haven't received their forms either. Today's mail came awhile ago and it wasn't there. I'm not worried. It's just frustrating.

rhiannonj, is waiting on the calls costing you monthly minutes by month? Are you on a landline or cell?
If not costing = stay on all day
If costing = PM the carrier's name and your phone # to me.
Thanks.

No, it doesn't cost me on my landline. I have free long distance. Thanks for asking.

I can't offer you any specific advice for your state, what I can say is I used to have a lazy roommate who would often send those forms in a month or more late. He'd still get paid for those weeks, though, so you'll probably also get paid for those weeks eventually, even if you're late because of this problem. I can't imagine you'd get screwed for something that isn't your fault when my old roommate was completely at fault and still got paid.
Of course, this doesn't help you much if you need the money right now, but maybe it'll help you rest a little bit easier knowing you probably don't need to worry about getting paid for the weeks eventually?

Thanks ranbrow. I'll be okay. I have religiously mailed those work search forms every other Sunday! I'll get this sorted out.

Well, I finally got through and spoke to someone today. She said the work search forms are still going out and they may be late due to the holidays. She also said to go ahead and file my webcert which I had intended to do. So now I just sit and wait.

it's weird because i am in california and although i got my claim form on time, there is another website that is specifically about the california edd and so many people reported that they did not get their claim/work search forms over the last few weeks- maybe it is the holiday but it seems kind of odd. glad it worked out for you!
