Obama to propose $300 billion to jump-start jobs
According to people familiar with the White House deliberations, two of the biggest measures in the president's proposals for 2012 are expected to be a one-year extension of a payroll tax cut for workers and an extension of expiring jobless benefits. Together those two would total about $170 billion.
The people spoke on the condition of anonymity because the plan was still being finalized and some proposals could still be subject to change.

Re: Obama to propose $300 billion to jump-start jobs
For his part, Romney chose Nevada, where unemployment stood at a nationwide high of 12.9 percent in July, for a campaign speech in which he outlined numerous proposals to create jobs.
He called for lowering the maximum corporate tax from 35 percent to 25 percent and abolishing the tax on dividends and investment earnings for anyone making less than $200,000 a year. He also said any new government regulation that raises costs for businesses should be accompanied by other steps to reduce the burden by an identical amount.
hahahahahahahaha! DUMB GOPer
STILL DOESN'T GET IT. lowering corporate tax IS NOT GOING TO FIX ANYTHING!!!!!! All the GOPer monkeys running for PREZ are FOOLS!!!!!!

Re: Obama to propose $300 billion to jump-start jobs
Don't know if this is bad news or what BUT! I saw on news about Obama's plans on asking money for unmployment extensions and it specifically said to keep jobless benefits from expiring! Don't know 99er's. I hope for all who are out, truly do, but nothing being said so far about extensions for those out of benefits but that he just wants to keep the extensions from expiring! I also hate to say this but I have a feeling repubs. will give in to him on the infrastructure money but will resist the unemployent benefits part, but I want to be wrong on this one! I am ineligible for any extension if it happens but I certainly hope for those out of benefits!!!

Re: Obama to propose $300 billion to jump-start jobs
I have a bad feeling about further extensions for the 99ers. They have to reauthorize the current program or the economy will completely crash late in the fall. There are close to one million people who were laid off in the past month or so who will not be eligible for any of the extensions, in addition to the unemployed who will lose the balance of their tiers, and state EB on January 1.
"99ers" only hope is the 14 additional weeks to Tier 1. Even though the bill is still picking up sponsors in the House, and Rep. Lee is still proactive about it, it seems that the exhaustees have given up. WE CAN'T DO THAT!!

I don't think the exhaustees have given up totally, it's just that nobody is still hiring and the jobs aren't out there, and furthermore, we just have to keep telling the politicans one last time (especially every democratic and independent) that it is unnaceptable on their part and the presidents administration in which they indirectly work for (since they support his idealogies and him 95% of time) to not be proactively making this a top priority each and every week and especially TODAY before his speech tomorrow night.
The fact that there's no mention in any of the most recent published articles on the 'planned content' for the Presidents speech speaks volumes in itself and shows the lack of ability on our part, the advocacy groups, and the entire congressional leaders and administration. All we can do is bombard people like Barbara Lee and Bobby Scott in waves of thousands over next 36 hrs demanding that LONG TERM UNEMPLOYED UI EXHAUSTEES be included in the job creation plan/bill as we move forward.

Re: Obama to propose $300 billion to jump-start jobs
I don't want to be negative but I really think he will call for reauthorizing unemployment benefits and not for adding more weeks. As more people exhaust this will be a useless topic. More and more people will simply not qualify for the deadline.
I just don't want anyone to get their hopes up about added weeks for tomorrow because I don't think we will see that on Thursday.
However, if it is going to happen it will come in a big bill like this. I just don't see the house passing any bill at all.

Re: Obama to propose $300 billion to jump-start jobs
On this titled post: Obama proposes $300 Billion to jump start jobs!!!!!!!
Didn't he in 2009 have a 840 billion dollar stimulus that was 85% distributed and a lot of it for " RAIL, ROADS,BRIDGES" Again! Didn't work but he is on that same donkey again! I get it, it will be his speech that gets us charged, he is saying "boy this time I'll get them goin!" I'll change my speech and this time the stimulus will work!!! Where this is smart is it took from 2009 to now 2011 to see his past stimulus didn't work, but now that its almost 2012 and if the stimulus gets passed (which it will) he'll look good just in time for elections and in the very short term he'll have bragging rights. That is if nothing else falls to the ground! But after he is elected again then its back to the same ole' same ole'... Because he didn't do anything long term to fix economy! Same old plans with same old doom! But one thing in his supporters favor is time is on his side! But who will be affected if it doesn't work...
BTW! Unemployment UP again!!! IMHO!!! Thats "humble".

Re: Obama to propose $300 billion to jump-start jobs
The Long Term Unemployed in the country are never going to receive any further help in terms of extensions to unemployment benefits. There is a unpublisized end of life here. The senate and congress do not give a damn about us and would like the group of us to die off. Whice continue to happen because there are no jobs and no one will hire anyone under the age of 38!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Until employers are held accountable for their discrimmination nothing will change. But anyone expecting more government help to pay bills etc has a very long wait. IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately, I'm forced to agree with you. That ship sailed several months ago. Whatever the reason, 99 weeks was the highest this country was willing to go. In hindsight, this was always the case. We were just being strung along with false hope and empty promises. After the final increase for the exhaustees passed, one of the congressmen, I forget which one, angrily said, "This is the last time!". And they stuck to that.
As far as what the employers have done, and are still doing, it will take years of independent investigation (I don't trust the government to do it), to get to exactly who was responsible for what, and to ultimately punish them. The Clintons always talk about a vast right-wing conspiracy. Well this conspiracy is just as vast, perhaps moreso, and may even be bipartisan in nature.

what happened to his last jump start! Maybe we need to hang in there for a little longer, after all they're bumps in the road! And hey, there has been a lot of bad luck lately! Now thats if you rely on luck to grow jobs!

No We Can't and I am not. We don't know that it won't include the 99ers or it will include us, it was not that specific. Until we know for sure, we are all just speculating. He is taking it to the people on the road for the next three weeks, we need to take it to Congress as we have. They are a little nervous now, after their vacations back home, they know we know they aren't listening, they have to change their tune. Let's help them out. Tweet, email, fax and call. If you don't that's your perogative, but don't complain you aren't being heard. Please all members, especially the 99ers, don't lose hope, keep screaming and keep fighting. We will be fighting for all the unemployed so we are asking all the unemployed to keep fighting for the 99ers as well, we have been without for over a year. Please, we need to stay united.
