PA Temporary/Fulltime position...how to file
I have the possibility of taking a full time temporary 6 months assignment through a temp agency at about 1/3 what I was making at my original job before I started collecting. The job starts Aug 24th, but the first three weeks are 30 hrs so I assume I would mark that as part time income when filing my biweekly claims. After the first 3 weeks however, the hours go up to 40. As of today I have 6 more weeks of my original 26 weeks of UC left then would move on to Tier 1 of EUC. My question is...and I did call the PA service center only to get mixed answers, is once I go to 40 hrs will I still report it as part time earnings since it is a temporary position or do I report that I have a full time position ? Also if I have to report it as full time, this assignment will take me until February 2012 and when I go to reopen my claim I will only have like 2 weeks of regular UC left, but because I went beyond the Dec 24th deadline of my UC benefits ending to move on to tier 1, will I lose the extra 20 weeks of tier 1 ? Also, I assume when I reopen my UC reimbursement amounts will be based on my original claim and not what I earned in the 6 month temporary assignment ?

If this is suitable work, you should take it, against state laws. The rate of pay usually does not matter as long it is minimum wage. File for partial unemployment for those 3 weeks. If you make too much, then you get nothing from unemployment.
Your extension should only be used if needed, not for the employed. Most states if you work 20 weeks you can start a new claim, which could be 20 weeks. If you get 26 over then you get what the state says. Don't worry about the extensions, as long as it is long enough. This what they mean by stretching your unemployment by working temporary.
