Thousands of U.S. post offices may be closed by Postal Service
The U.S. Postal Service, which may run out of money in September, said it may close as many as 3,700, or 12 percent, of its post offices as customers buy more services online and through locations such as grocery stores.
Post offices in every state but Delaware may close, according to a list provided by the USPS today. More than half are in rural locations, said Sue Brennan, a spokeswoman for the service. In communities without a post office, the USPS plans to sell stamps and offer services through local retailers.

They propose closing 17 post offices in the Bronx, which basically puts a burden on the residents who will probably have to drive or take mass transit to mail a package!

My husband has been on the hiring list for the Post Office since taking the test in 2008. Has applied for many positions and even got his hopes up when he was notified that they were doing a background check, only to get a letter that they were pulling the job post. Guess the handwriting was on the wall all along.

I would love to work the postal service but it seems impossible these days.
We should ALL support the Postal Service it doesn't take one dime of tax money and may be the only truly not for profit business left. All the money it gets comes straight from mailing packages and stamps. I never use UPS or FEDEX anymore.
