Extended Unemployment Benefits Officially Expire Today
http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/07/01/259318/extended-unemployment-benefits-expire/
The Huffington Post’s Arthur Delaney notes that “after this week, workers laid off through no fault of their own will not be eligible for any of the generous extended unemployment benefits layoff victims have received from the federal government since 2008.” Workers who lose their jobs will only be eligible for 26 weeks of state-level benefits. The average unemployed worker at the moment has been out of work for 39.7 weeks, while 45.1 percent of unemployed people have been out of work for six months or more.
I really hope the people EXPLODE and hit the streets.

Its terrible, and no mention of trying to extend the deadline again yet. Pretty sad and frightening.

Yup and some RED States cut the number of weeks down from 26 to 20 weeks.

A prayer for all the newly laid off and those of us still living in this hellish nightmare. Some states don't grant 26 weeks, NY is know is one of them, and the with ue rate still at 9.1 (19.1 really), what is it they are thinking.

NY dropped from 26 weeks. Cuomo approved?

Sorry to say but this sounds like their "FINAL" solution plan in it's first stages. Things will get worst. They will keep playing with themselves and give us ALL continued lip service as the fires get worst. THEY will keep touting RECORD profits in the propaganda media while taking LONGER vacations and sipping fine wine. Then somebody will LOOSE it and cap a mess of them leaving one of their fancy restaurants, then the second American Revolution will start. The ruling 2% will THEN know REAL pain and suffering. It's coming...mark my words. It's just a matter of when.

State Extended Benefits just dropped from 20 weeks to 13 weeks effective July 11 due to the state's ue rate.

Saw this very interesting comment on Twitter - any ideas???
The moment a group starts called "#99ers to defeat Obama in 2012" is the moment he starts taking your plight seriously.

Unfortunately, Obama has sold out to the Gop. Either he's going by the old saying keep your friends close and your enemies even closer or he's dancing with devil. All I see right now is our government has become a walmart type institution.
