Found this posted on another site. Funny how they like everyone to believe that we are in a recovery and yet we continue to hear things like this. Here are Three different companies in three different states that are closing and laying off.

CT announcing more today also. I thought the economy came out of the recession in June, 2009?
http://www.wfsb.com/news/28113072/detail.htmlHARTFORD, Conn. -- If unionized state employees don't ratify a tentative labor concession deal in the coming weeks, Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said there will be massive layoffs - substantially more than the 4,700 he threatened last month.

Re: More Layoffs...
It did Desp. According to the people who want you to believe that the recession ended. That would be the same people who want to end unemployment benefits for all. It's to their benefit to keep saying it has ended because, like the followers of the Tea Party, they will believe it if enough people say it. Notice no one is claiming it's over anymore.

Boeing to cut 510 jobs as Shuttle program winds down
Boeing Co will lay off about 510 employees in its Space Exploration division as the United States' space shuttle program draws to a close.
There will no material impact on the company as a result of the job cuts, a spokesman for Boeing's Space Exploration division told Reuters.
The last workday for workers is scheduled to be August 5, pending completion of the final shuttle mission, the company said in a statement.

City moving ahead with plans to lay off police
Mayor Angel Taveras has said that he intends to cut up to 80 of the 468 officers by June 30 if he cannot get concessions from the union that would reduce the budget by $6 million. Although the details aren’t finalized, the administration plans to follow contract procedures to determine who goes, meaning many new patrol officers — the last to arrive — will be cut.

Re: More Layoffs...
Bad news I used to live in Oregon, and I know how difficult it can be to find a job there. Especially in high tech, and of course, wood products. I used to work in both. After losing my job in a wood processing plant, I trained to work in technical support.....LOL. Two losing occupations! (My last job is now being performed by three people in India.)
One of things that always gets me about those that want to cut "government spending" - don't they realize that usually means putting even more people out of work? And fewer people paying taxes? Arghhhh.
