Wisconsin Republican Party Abusing Open Records to Attack Academic Freedom
This is a lengthy blog, but if you have the time its a must read...
http://scholarcitizen.williamcronon.net/2011/03/24/open-records-attack-on-academic-freedom/
"Here’s the headline: the Wisconsin Republican Party has issued an Open Records Law request for access to my emails since January 1 in response to a blog entry I posted on March 15 concerning the role of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) in influencing recent legislation in this state and across the country. I find this a disturbing development, and hope readers will bear with me as I explain the strange circumstances in which I find myself as a result."
This is due to research and a blog post by Bill Cronon. He did some research into ALEC and the influence they have on legislation across the country...he made it public. Now the Wisconsin Republican Party is trying to, to put it bluntly, bully and discredit him.

I do agree my friend. Economy first healthcare second. Or how about this tackle them at the same time.

Here is an op-ed piece by Paul Krugman of the NY Times about this titled "WILLIAM CRONIN AND THE AMERICAN THOUGHT POLICE".

Mr. Cronon's blog was a good read, and I made sure to share it on Facebook, we all should do that and let the information go far and wide.
