I just went though it. YOur lawyer will ask what you situation is and how much you are debt, hell also look at you income from last few years etc.
You will be given a ton of paperwork in which you have to list all your assets.
Once he beleives you qualify and has all your info he will set up a court date for you.
The whole process takes a few months. Once its done you will feel relieved.

I agree that once its over you will feel a lot better. Our lawyer had us fill out a creditors sheet and even then his staff double checked to make sure we didn't miss anyone.Other than that they did everything else for us we really had very little to do besides go to court or go to his office to sign paperwork so I guess its all about the firm you choose and the money your willing or can spend on the ordeal.

I've noticed a disturbing trend with the employers. Lately when you apply for jobs online, they want your Social Security Number UP FRONT so they can do background checks.

I'm terrified they will find the bankruptcy and then never call. Worse, you have no way to prove it was discrimination.

Its possible to do your own BK. I filed and had a Chap 7 discharged last year. Did it myself, and both my filing fee and credit counseling fees were waiverd. You have to ask to have the fees waivered(there are forms). You will save a lot of $$$$, by doing it yourself!
