The title says the symptom and there appears no help for recovery. There is help for AA, drugs, gamblers, however not for job seekers burnout. Even the career center appears ignorant to the problem. What do you think? No

I agree with you. This is why we have this support forum. You are amongst friends here and we can all talk about these things.

Feel free to vent away and ask for any support you may need.

Im actually working on having some therapists here ( Licensed) to help all our members to deal with these tough times that were all going though. It will be a free service (obviously) to all members.

I'm sooo tired of calling temp agencies week after week with no call backs or results....I'm burned out from over 2 years of this routine. Beginning to wonder if I'll ever find full-time, permanent work again. Part-time (well less than part-time 13hrs/wk) just doesn't cut it.

Worrying everyday burns me out. going over mine and my husbands resumes constantly to see where we can make improvements. The reality of it is, no matter how we spin it there just isn't any jobs. I want my life back and want to be caught up on my bills. tired of begging bill collectors to give me more time and tired of feeling like there is a brick wall sitting on my chest. Unemployment burnout Empty Re: Unemployment burnout

Post by laine25 Tue Mar 29, 2011 9:50 am

I've been unemployed since January 2010. I've sent out over 300 resumes and have had few interviews. I've even been called back for 2nd interviews but have not gotten the job. I see the same jobs advertised and have decided to take my resume off job sites. I need a break. I would like to see more jobs being created but I know this is not happening. I don't know what the solution is anymore as I'm completely discouraged. I have been doing volunteer work but it doesn't pay the bills.

I do the same thing going over my resume and such.

I have 2 months left on UE and have sent out resumes daily for almost 2 years, I am so sick of sending out resumes it is not funny.

One thing I thought of: In my industry or any industry I have seen lots of jobs being posted some still pop up after 6 months.

Thought: could it possibly be that these companies are posting jobs (I do not know how much they spend on posting to job boards and papers) and saying that there are NO qualified people to fill them, taking the money that they spend as a "Tax" break?

Is it possible?

So they can give the illusion that they want to hire but in fact they don't want to + getting the money they spend on the factitious job postings back in the form of a tax break?

Is it possible?

To me anything is possible these days.

I have seen so many jobs posted and have submitted my resume to them with no calls.

I ran out of UI besides loosing the appeal and my wife has one month of UI remaining. In the meantime, some staffing agencies have closed or moved.

Other, my doctor is wondering why my blood pressure is staying high besides medication. Must be that illusion of anxiety or recent fatigue that does not occur. confused

Jobs - I believe there are jobs. The jobs are just NOT for the aged or experienced.

Post by nfpexec Tue Mar 29, 2011 12:46 pm

I haven't had an interview since January and I think I had two so after hundreds of resumes, this year along (forget that i've been unemployed since 2008) this feels like a permanent state. My mind has sort of zoned out and even though I send out resumes I dont really think anyone is going to call or i will ever work again. I haven't come to terms with how i expect to live without a paycheck and benefits are long since gone. I think my mind can't absorb it so i've gone into a deep state of denial.

Meanwhile I've developed palpitations and other ailments that i know are the manifestations of the last 3 years of stress, anxiety etc. I never get a good nights rest, feel relaxed, always have headaches, stomach aches. I dont know I just dont know and i am waaaaay beyond having hope that anything is going to be done.

They will never view Unemployment burnout as a problem with real consequences....They just view it as us being lazy check collectors. Although I don't know how they can call me that because I have not had an unempoyment check since Sept.'09.

Also the pubic is so ignorant about unemployment benefits. The few family memembers I have left that I am in contact with think that the last UI extensions gave me a whole year of extended benfits. I tried to explain all that it did was extend the filing dates out for a year and didn't add any additional tiers. I have heard this over and over.

I too am burned out. Soooo tired of writing the occasional cover letter, searching for jobs, applying to jobs, not getting interviews and especially not getting a job.

I want a job so bad that I can taste it. I am really starting to wonder if I will ever get a job in my field. Work is such a vital part of my being that I don't know what will become of me if I have to take a job that gives me nothing more than a paycheck.

It is really hard to write enthusiastically when you have barely enough energy to get out of the bed.

Unemployment burnout Empty Re: Unemployment burnout

Post by js123 Tue Mar 29, 2011 3:40 pm

Spoke to a friend that I worked with yesterday. The people who caused a lot of problems are still working for the firm. That is so unfair and I am angry, depressed about my situation. I am still unemployed and embarrassed to tell anyone. No money, no job and sick to my stomach. How do I explain to a person who has been working over 6 years that there is a problem with employment. I can't take it, I ask God why is this happening to me. Many people are working, earning a good salary and not affected by the economy. I can't go to a doctor, dentist or live the life I use to enjoy.

Suffering from dizzy spells, shaking from fear of what will happen to me if I don't find a job and can't sleep normal hours. Tired of the same old garbage on the TV and I refuse to talk to friends anymore. My brother asked me, "what are you going to do?". My answer is find a job as quickly as I can, that was a month ago, no job in site.

Burn out isn't the word, I am only in the walking dead category. No feelings, just dead inside.

Been unemployed over 2 years, sent out resume to hundreds of jobs, 4 interviews and nothing. Nothing, nothing, nothing.

If any trolls think this is funny, I hope to God this happens to you.

Unemployment burnout Empty Re: Unemployment burnout

Post by phjohan Tue Mar 29, 2011 4:54 pm

Burnout - unfortunately, numbers do not lie. The numbers are the higher levels of blood pressure relating from anxiety and trying to manage the condition. Doctor's appointment soon and can speak of my illusions.

BTW, a recent visit to a job fair network states focus should be on Linkedin towards job activities. I think the other boards such as Monster will be the backcorner. Point being, there is more recruitment activity on Linkedin than on the other board. As a second solution, try looking into Workforce Investment Act (WIA) at your local career center. Point being, you can get up to $5,000 of free training for being underemployed or unemployed and might achieve some networks. Good luck.

In any event, burnout is real regardless of ignorance. confused

Living in constant fear and feeling helpless to do anything about it is bound to take its toll. I really feel like I am going to have heart attack. Severe chest pains, shortness of breath, heartburn, but it has been going on for months and I'm still here. By the way, no doctor will see me without money for tests up front. I've already had the consult and that almost broke me. Worse case scenario, I get out of a world that is so wicked it would let this happen to someone who has always played by the rules and wants to work hard. It's so easy to say go to the doctor but doctors DO NO CARE if you have no money.

@america - the condition that you describe could be anxiety, however I am not a doctor. My only cure for anxiety without $$ was walks or exercise. I know that medication does exist however healing takes time. Point being, been there. Best.

Being unemployed sucks!!! It will be 1 year tomorrow when this horrendous and deplorable situation started for me. When the greedy bastards laid half of my company off. Because as they put it "its cost cutting, everyone is doing it, we read about in the paper all the time". This has been a nightmare since day one. Yet Obummer and company keep telling us things are improving. Well, maybe from your perspective.
Hope and Change???? Since he took office, I lost my job, I've been out work now for a year. And I really dont think companies are going to do much of any substantial hiring until they see how the next Presidential Election pans out next year in Nov 2012. They have the cash, but prefer to sit on it until they see what the actual overhead cost added per employee is under Health Reform. And you cannot blame them. Why would a company create jobs for which they dont know what the real added cost will be?
This perhaps is one of the most business unfriendly Administrations in the history of this Country.

delko - your condition and how you feel is real. Problem being, others do not believe the condition exists. confused

All I can say, try and take a class through your career center and ask for WIA. Point being, the free paid training that you like might improve networking and keep you occupied, while not using your dollars. Good luck.

As far as I know, you have one year to use WIA after that you are out of luck. Most of us feel we would find work in our fields, by the time you realize it seems impossible its too late.

Yes. It was less than a year from June 2010 to March 2011. Thats why you were approved. Ive looked into it for my state and it needs to be done with in 1 yr of opening your claim again.

I didnt know either till it was too late...Not that they really had any programs of interest or better yet that I could afford. All the free courses were basics, as if you were new to English and computers etc.
