Thanks all.

I have spent it weeding and mowing my yard for the first time this year. I am going to get cleaned up and go to Denny's for the free breakfast and then watch the ball game. I hope we can win for a change!

I'd love to get outside and start cleaning my perennial garden, but I know we are going to have another frost. I can see shoots starting to come up but don't want to rake the fall debris out yet. It is good insulation against the frost. At least the trees are starting to turn green. That is a happy sight after this winter - I never thought we would see the grass again with all the snow we had!

It's a busy week coming up for most of us, just wanted to bump this up again, find out what everyone is doing for the week. Lots of shopping, prepping and cooking I imagine. That's what I'll be doing. Just to note, I also bumped up our cookbook in we all need some ideas.

I'm afraid to admit this, but I hate turkey! The vegetables and desserts are the best! Of course, the real blessing at Thanksgiving is being with family and friends. I found a picture yesterday of a Thanksgiving long, long ago with my parents and 3 sisters. That family of 6 has now grown to over 30 for the holiday dinner. Over the years, we have lost members, some way too young, but we keep them in our hearts and share the memories with the younger crew to keep their spirits alive.

This year there will be 4 generations gathering for dinner. Despite all we have been through these past 3 and a half years, I still count my blessings that I have each and every one of them.

Just hope they don't stick me at the kids table again this year!

Good morning all friends. I intend to tweet a lot today. So much to do this week, baking, chopping, peeling, slicing, dicing. I actually can't wait. Feels good to have a reason to be busy with something fun to look forward to at the end of the work. Big family dinner this year, everyone is coming in to see Dad and celebrate the holiday, so we are having it at the fire house (my cousin and good friend is a volunteer fireman) great kitchen, lots of room and we will be close to 40 this year. Dad's house is large enough on two floor, but it's just too much for him, even if we do it all, so to over the river and through the woods to the firehouse we go. Did the baking yesterday, now the prepping and chopping begin.

This will be the first turkey day since my mom passed. But I've been the main cook for the last 20 years...it will be weird not being told what I'm doing wrong. Oh, who am I kidding? Someone will step up!

I hear you Joan. My sister and I were laughing about this last night, what will we do without Mom and Aunt Betty "making the face" about our stuffing or mashed potatoe recipes. I think as our parents and grandparents age, they have no problem just saying whatever comes to mind. Sometimes it's hard to hear it, but I have to admit, my Sister and I had a good laugh last night, imitating the comments. I will also have to admit, I would love to hear her voice again, even if it's say, MaryKay, I never made mashed potates that way, but I'll be quiet, it's your party.

If I don't talk to you before, have a wonderful Thanksgiving Joan. We will keep your Mom in our prayers.

Jobless, didn't you hear, in NJ, they laid off the job fairies. Sad but true.

I should have said mid-Atlantic. It's really warm. 52 and supposed to be in the 60's through Sunday. Never fear, Mother Nature will give us 18 inches of snow around the 18th-26th of December. Never fails, we always pay for the good weather. Earthquakes, hurricanes, wild electrical storms. 37 days of rain, you name it, only thing missing are the locusts (but, we still have the lovely, ever popular stink bugs) so I am hoping that counts and they will hold off on the locusts. lol

Here's some turkey day fun: we always had fights over the wings, so I last year I bought two extra. Tucked them in with the bird, then just when it was all done and roasty, I pulled it out and yelled in my best Pee Wee Herman voice, "OMG!!! Mutant turkey!!!!"

Now that's a tip they'd never tell you on the Butterball hotline.

I worked for Westinghouse for 12 of my 38 years. Love, love Pburgh. Had some really great times there and met some of the best people. I am having a senior moment, can't remember the lat 70's, what did they call the gondolas that you could ride, was that the incline?

If I forget or if power goes out, all members, have a very Happy Thanksgiving, enjoy and please be safe travelling.

I will be going to a different sisters house this year. I have not been able to afford the gas to her house before and last year there was a little bit of snow on the ground. She and her family live way out in the country in a big old farmhouse just under a 100 miles away. I will be meeting the latest great nephew who is now 3 years old already. Weather won't be an issue as it's supposed to be in the 60's and sunny tomorrow.

I am taking off after lunch tonight and have taken Friday off too so I'm thrilled to have 4 and a half days off. My job is physically demanding so I am plain beat most of the time. But the upside is that I have lost about 25 pounds and can eat what I want now. No worries about burning off Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow!

Giving thanks for our blessings is good, but using our blessings is even better.

Hope everyone can enjoy Thanksgiving.
