Jobless Get Lust! Empty Jobless Get Lust!

Post by Sonik_Pana Wed Feb 27, 2013 8:40 am

I think all we have to do is to get lost, put our efforts together to get something done. By saying "get lust" I mean real products and services. There are "jobless of all kind of professions, experiences, trades and skills. All we need is just start doing something joylessly.
This is our problem. We are not collaborating, sharing and helping each other, that is why we have ended up where we are.
Joblessness is no longer a government problem, not even a personal problem it is a problem of a society. No one will help us, unless we going to help each other.
We need to develop ideas, create organizations and businesses. WE can only achieve it if working together, working hard and honestly. We need to become a community to support ourselves and our families.

Here's my 2 cents...

We should have united years ago! Funny how minorities, special interest groups, and even illegals are able to organize, but when it comes to the middle class, who had their jobs and livelyhoods systematically taken away in what has got to be one of the greatest criminal acts in this nation's history, uniting for some reason has been, up to now, impossible. Perhaps it's because our backgrounds are just so dissimilar, that we can't overcome our differences or find enough common threads. Perhaps we're just to depressed to get up the energy needed to unite, and then to fight back. Whatever the reason, the government relies on our divisivness, so that they can continue to herd us to the slaughter house with no resistance.

Nobody in government, at any level is fighting for us anymore.

Are there any community organizers amongst us?

See this thread for more on the issue of organizing.
How do we Organize?
http://www.unemployed-friends2.org/t4976-how-do-we-organize?highlight=organize

There are advocacy websites for the 99ers and other groups, but the organizers for those haven't succeeded in getting much going.

It will probably take hiring an activist to do this type of work, but the unemployed don't have any money for that. A government funded study must have been done that must have found that the unemployed have no will to organize and so the politicians must have taken that as a sign that helping the unemployed is not necessary. If the sequestration goes through then the unemployed will lose hundreds of dollars in benefits this year due to cuts. Oh well.

There has been organization in past years, however it never gets enough momentum or enough people for lasting results. There has also been ideas floated for co-ops with former unemployed making up the entirety of the companies, not much has come of them.

The Occupy Wall Street movement was our best hope to date. I attended one of the early rallies, the one where we tied up the Brooklyn bridge. I was almost one of the several hundred arrested that day. Just when the cops were about to grab me and 2 others, a skirmish between cops and protestors broke out several yards away, and the cops went over there to help break it up!

One of the early morning talkshow clowns, who's studio was literally feet away from Succotti Park (or Zucchini Park as he liked to call it) used his 50,000 watt microphone as often as he can to bash them. He did that because he felt threatened by them, that his lavish lifestyle might be taken away by the movement. You can sense the sigh of relief in his voice and his words when the movement was ultimately broken up by the city and it's crack police force.

They were able to be broken up because the group was infiltrated by homeless people and ex-cons who were looking for free food and easy marks to commit crimes. They became unruly, Succotti Park smelled like a zoo, and the protestors began to fight amongst themselves. Their message about what they were protesting was not clear nor focused. Whenever protestors would be asked exactly what it was that they were protesting, they would reel off a laundry list of things, instead of concentrating on just a few of the most important ones.

The local Occupy was infiltrated by undercover cops, mostly to bust weed smokers. But also to end the encampments. Our camps were very organized, however at the end, the protesters were hard to displace and their message had gotten very convoluted and so lost the voting public. In more recent years, they've gone underground, opened up official offices and are only seen on social media. Occasionally I hear about them trying to keep families from getting evicted from houses that they have tried to take from banks, but that seems to be all they are really fighting for currently. Our plight is no longer a national concern, neither the plight of homeless LTU families.

On another note, UCubed has fallen out of favor and other LTU support groups that were running locally, have disbanded. Among the local LTU, a few gets jobs and the rest don't care.
