Banana Republicans Empty Banana Republicans

Post by Guest Thu Jul 21, 2011 12:42 pm

The Banana Republicans have no idea about the magnitude of public wrath that will befall them if America defaults and rating-agency downgrades ripple through the nation and states and crash bond markets, collapse equity markets, destabilize the world economy and drive joblessness even higher and interest rates through the roof.

Banana Republicans believe the Senate should be destroyed as an institution by the tyranny of the minority. They prevent a Nobel laureate from serving on the Federal Reserve Board. They prevent nominees for the Treasury Department from being confirmed even during a national economic crisis.

If the bough breaks and the cradle falls there will be blame enough, but every poll shows the Banana Republicans are out of touch with the pulse of the nation, which wants a fair and balanced deficit deal.

Blame will be placed. But the tragedy of what happens to all of us is scarier than we really know. The problem is I don't really think that DC really thinks this will happen. 14 days and counting. Banana Republicans 34243

Yes, it will be an economic disaster, but so was the Great Depression.

For all of us "baby boomers", our parents lived through that period. I look at their values compared to what is going on in today's society and truly believe they were better people for having lived through that period in history. Families, neighbors and towns came together to help each other out and somehow they all survived while supporting each other.

Your comment is rather scary, but then we are in a rather scary situation. I listen to Mike Malloy and he was talking about Bastille Day in France and what happened there and what could happen here. I really think DC is out of touch. Either that, or they have a plan to crush any dissension.

My mother said something rather ominous this a.m. to me as I told her I was stocking up on soup (partly because it was on sale and rising food prices and partly because of what I think is going to happen in this country). She said "you might not even live that long." (as in long enough to eat the soup) :insert shock icon here, as for some reason it's not working for me:

This is JMHO, but I think society has changed. I think people were different back then. Maybe you live in a place where people would help each other out, but I don't. I've never even met one of my neighbors and I've been here eight years. I live in a transient city with no sense of community so I'll be on my own with my pets should things get bad. Well, I think things are already bad. To anyone who has a husband and children, I wish I were in your shoes right now.

Society has changed, that is why we are in the mess we are in right now. Not many people who care about others. I do live in a small town, in a small state, so maybe I should consider myself somewhat "lucky". I really don't know what to think anymore. Sad

I too believe that things are different. I constantly have people ask me about my Dad coming and staying. Rich's Dad coming and staying, taking care of my brother etc. They all think I am crazy, NOT nice, but I always hear things like you're nuts. That's not your job. These are not people I really want to get to know. My idea of a social conservative is someone who is polite when out sociallly, doesn't try to convince me that their religion, race or belief must be mine, someone who treats others with respect. Basically, someone who doesn't act like an *SS. These "social conservatives" and their prejudice, ideas and demands aren't my cup of tea. No pun intended.

That being said, when these social and fiscal conservatives wind up bringing the country and to a certain extent the world to it's knees, watch how fast they care and want programs to deal with the mess.
It's typical, it's not important or really even happening unless it's happening to them personally.

Standard&Poors sending a rep. to meet with the "freshmen" congress. Would love to be there when they are finally given the reality of their foolishness. Banana Republicans 34243

Then maybe they will return to JOBS, JOBS, JOBS! Remember that, where are the JOBS Mr. Speaker. And while you are looking for the JOBS you were supposed to create, please do the Country a favor, get YOUR house in order, you have the most ill-behaved children, they are rude, demeaning, selfish, egotistical and quite frankly, not real bright. Show is over, much like the "birther" episodes, time for real work to get done. If you don't want to cut taxes, then get going on the JOBS, revenues will increase. But don't think for a minute, the former long term unemployed and 99ers will be lobbying for our "tax cuts" right along with the top 2%. And there are alot more of us.
