About 20 percent of everything Americans spent in the last year came to them via unemployment checks, food stamps, Social Security and disability payments, according to a special report prepared for The New York Times by Moody's Analytics, an economic consulting firm.

FEMA better start getting those trailers and tents ready to distribute through the Country for folks to live in and pool any resources they have together. That is a very large number who have been surviving from various sources of govt programs of one kind or another. Add in the newly jobless after their initial UI funds run out, going to be massive by then. I read Cisco is looking at eliminating 5,000 over the next few months and possibly 10,000 by year end. They have to cut deep to stay afloat due to HP taking more and more market share. They can't see any other way to get around it. Those are big numbers, I thought we were past those kinds of layoffs, but it looks like it is starting up again.

And now it all unravels, they cannot hide the true numbers anymore. This is what we need to happen, they need to keep reporting these stories.

Several shows today did pieces on the expiring Unemployment benefits in December. Very surprised they started this early.

I agree! The President should declare a state of emergency asap. FEMA is for disasters and this certainly qualifies as one. Its also time for working people to realize this as well. They have no clue how much of an emergency this is and wont unless we keep telling them or god forbid it happens to them.

A fellow tweeter who is a member of a Dem. PAC sent me a message recently that said they really think thats what he will do if he has to. Im not so sure, but I wish he would. Its exhausting trying to predict what washington is going to do or not do. I'm tired of it Neutral
