it they take our 13 month extension back, no reason for us not to take back their 2 year extension of the Bush tax cuts, but for the rich only. One year is plenty...do they really think the Senate will pass this, it will have to get 60 votes, and I don't see how that is going to happen. But lets cut the taxes for the rich anyway, all this makes me fell like some kinda burden on society, when in fact, I have worked for 30 years...screw this. Dazed

P.S.: When my daughter was three it was around election time. She used to run around yelling "no new taxex" from hearing all the commercials on TV, I used to think that was funny, it's not so funny anymore..

I just read where Emanuel Cleaver says that HR 589 is "not going to happen". So why the hell was he asking for tweets and emails from 99ers. Hypocritical. Bobby Scott should be leading the CBC; it would be a much more professionally-run caucus.

Emanuel Cleaver did not say that HR 589 was not going to happen. He was responding to a question about forgetting about HR 589.

If he was going to give up on it, he wouldn't have asked for questions to be brought to the President today, the majority of which all deal with 589 and the 99ers.

If you look at the sub-title of the article in the Root, it is clear that this issue will not be dropped by the CBC and Reps. Lee and Scott.

F.Y.I. , the OP in this thread, "G", has been and still is, in constant contact with Rep. Lee. He was at the press conference in February in Washington for the introduction of HR 589.

Yeah, that's what i was wondering....and, of course, was hoping that my interpretation was wrong. But his exact quote is as follows:

Question: "Does that mean that the 99ers bill is off the table?"
Cleaver: "That's not going to happen, in spite of the fact that we feel strongly about it."

Maybe he was misquoted; at least I hope so!!
