1977.......
I was 10 years old then.
Star Wars first came out, Everything was good... My Real family was alive.
Christmas was a event, I was happy.
The music was good, TV was good, People were different (they cared about each other).... Times really have changed SUX!!!
Technology has changed, now I can listen to my music on my computer instead of records or tapes...OR have my whole Movie collection on my computer also.
To me that is the ONLY good thing about these times, really nothing else is good.
What is your fond memories of 1977?

Re: 1977.......
I was only 3 but I do remember watching "land of the lost" and being scared. The T-Rex and the sleez-stax scared the crap out of me.

Re: 1977.......
I was in Junior High, collecting comic books, listing to Rock music, No WORRIES, and NO money....but back then I WAS invincible, HAD all the time in the world, WITH ALL those BIG dreams. I'm still wondering what happened to all those. Guess it's that more behind than ahead now. Now I understand what all the OLDtimers back then were complaining about.

Re: 1977.......
Things were a lot more simple back then. I was only five in 1977. I remember Star Wars and Grease and the tv shows were the best! the brady bunch and in later years I remember watching Dallas and Falcon Crest with my Grammy. OH and the Smurfs! LOL
I also remember we were friendly with all our neighbors, never had to lock the doors. Didnt have to worry about having the latest technology like kids now a days. Boy do i feel old
Great idea for a thread by the way! Thanks!

I was 21 and married in 1977! But as I remember, things weren't so great back then. I was finished with college and there were no jobs. I later retrained for clerical and bookkeeping through CETA. That was a very successful move on my part. IMO, that kind of program is what we need today!

I was in 7th grade. Remember going to see the first Star Wars, and having to get home after it had iced down. There were 4 really big multi-screen movie houses in those days, and Star Wars premiered with those big searchlights and the line for the movie went around the theater despite the cold.

OMG, When my parents brought me to go see Star Wars back in 1977 the line was around the theater.... That was a event...
Even on Xmas I used to get really cool toys... Tobor the robot, that was a black robot with a clicker the you made it move...
Or I got a bright orange portable 8 track player and a tape of the star Wars music (I'm still into the Star Wars & Star Trek soundtracks to this day).
The toys were cooler back then, as was alot of things from that time was.

Re: 1977.......
Whats sad, is there was a world, BEFORE Star Wars that most have forgotten about. I'll suspect that in a distant time in the future, history will be written that the world was created in 1977 because of this. Mark my words.......I'm not kidding Dates will read June 23 1975 BSW and Apr 3. 2011 ASW.......I'm not kidding, people take this series of films WAY too serious.

yup, The Evil Knievel jump cycle by Ideal toys. You rev the handle on the power crank too hard and you strip the gears. All that crappy plastic was coming out of China even then.

at the time all that stuff in the 70's was stamped made in Hong Kong, some Taiwan. In the 60's all toys were stamped made in Japan...and to say thats was the TOUGH stuff. Good quality compared to the 70's toys. All that stuff is brittle and over time melts. Lots of early 70's toys developed melt marks....you can see this in stuff from Mattel and Hasbro for sure.

Re: 1977.......
I graduated high school and started at a college I despised. I was moody and angry and a typical teenager. I ran up my first phone bill at college and got bawled out by my father. I spent money as quickly as I received it and couldnt imagine life at 30 much less 50. I was all bell bottoms and platforms.
