Re: NYC unemployment rate see slight increase
Frankly I think the rate is being under estimated. The current corporate culture is geared toward running the tightest ship possible, which translates into little if any hiring.

Re: NYC unemployment rate see slight increase
Good Morning, I would really appreciate some help. I currently live in NY and have been receiving unemployment but have had no luck in finding work. I cannot afford to pay my portion of rent and continue living here and my uncle offered to let me live in his house rent free up to 1 year or until I can find a job, the mortage is paid off. He said I would only have to pay for my bills and food but I am worried if I move from NY to Chicago, I will lose my unemployment benefts.

Meloni you are allowed to move to another state while collecting unemployment, its called an interstate claim. You must notify both states of your new address. You will be allowed to finish collecting the EUC tiers.
The only thing that may be affected by moving is the EB or extended benefits. In order to collect EB on a interstate claim BOTH states must be triggered "on" for EB.
If the state you move to is not triggered on to pay EB youwill be paid two weeks of EB and that will be all. But if both states are paying EB you will collect the full amount.
Just be sure to notify both states of your plans. Good luck.
