EUC and EB and Hub Triggers
Hi everyone. Hope you all are doing okay.
With our new (joke) unemployment rate of 8.9%, it comes to my mind that if the government is going to play this game of lowering the rate month after month, they should also get rid of the triggers on tiers 3 & 4 on EUC and EB & HUB. I would only seem fair.
They don't have to tell us they are doing it, they can just do it behind our backs, like they do everything else. This would be the simple and kind thing to do for the many who are now hitting long term unemployment.
I do think this is important as many states, including my own, soon will be unable to claim some of this money, which we so desperately need.
Any thoughts. Thanks and
Good night all, D&C

We'll know the individual state's rates rates next week. The BLS news release:
Regional and State Employment and Unemployment: January 2011 is scheduled to be issued on Thursday, March 10, at 10:00 A.M. Eastern Time
The worst thing for this very fragile economy is to have more states go lower than the 8.5% trigger. That will probably add hundreds of thousands to the exhaustee list every month.

DesperateInRI,
It is my strong belief that this little fact, as well as quite a few others, was well known to Congress and was one of their sneaky plans when they finally agreed to the new extension in December 2010. Cut, Cut, Cut. "Artificially lower the unemployment rate, what can they do." "These people are stupid." That is what they think. What a mess. So sad.

That does sound like a trick they would pull, but God help us all if that happens. It is not going to be pretty.

Re: EUC and EB and Hub Triggers
Just curious. If a state like Texas only having 3 EUC tiers, EB and away!... what would happen if it's average rate rose to 8.5? Would the exhaustees still having an open claim be herded back through the new tier 4?

Yes, if your claim was still open.
