Part Time Work--NEED ASSISTANCE ASAP
Hi Friends,
I was recently discharged from my job. I still have the adjudication hearing on Monday, June 3rd. In the meantime, I applied for a part time job at $9 per hour to add to my "already too low" benefit amount from unemployment. I live in Illinois. From my understanding I can earn 50% of my weekly unemployment benefit amount. However, after doing some research, it sounds like this could mean trouble in the future.
One of the certification questions is "did you work"? If I answer yes to this question, does that mean they will consider me unavailable for work (and cancel my benefits)? Also, when it comes to the extension of benefits, will I lose my current amount based upon the part time job? In other words, if after 26 weeks, I am still on unemployment, would they base my benefits off of the $9 hr job, or the job that I was just discharged from?
Any detailed assistance is greatly appreciated.

Re: Part Time Work--NEED ASSISTANCE ASAP
If you turn down any job, you will be disqualified. Money earned would only be taken into consideration when your Benefit Year Ends. As far as affecting any extensions, EUC has been scaled back drastically and is only authorized until the end of the year. With the way the economy is portrayed today, it is unlikely that EUC will be extended today. Take the $9 an hour job!! Many of us here are "99ers", no benefits since 2010 and long forgotten by potential employers. We would give anything to have that job, we have lost everything!

I'd say. I would do anything for a part time job even. But I apply and no responses.

Extension amounts will not be the same as your regular benefits. Federal EUC has been cut 10% - 13%, depending on your state, due to Sequestration.
