Laid off international worker...where to apply for Unemployment?
After 25 years in the workforce, I find myself eligible for Unemployment compensation for the first time. My question, I'm not sure that it's worth it and I have no idea where to apply?
I've worked for a California based construction company for my entire career. Although I live in Florida, they consider my point of origin to be California. I've spent the last year working an international assignment in South America and I was recently placed on holding status and retuned to the States. Should I apply for California or Florida Unemployment? Or perhaps it's not worth the headache? I've accepted my next assignment and I'll be headed to Australia as soon as my visa is processed (4 to 6 weeks). This is relevant only because I have no intentions of going out and looking for a job in CA or FL. What is you two cents?
