I am interested in solutions, myself, however i am painfully aware of past historical solutions, movements, what have you.....
After the Franco-prusian War of 1870 the peasants siezed Paris and set up a comune, which fell apart as the comunist/socialists bickered with the Anarchist..
It is my belief that the only reason FDR was able to pass any New Deal legislation is that there were powerfull socialist/communist and Labor groups
that threatened social unrest...

Re: Sequel To Star Wars
I have a few friends and acquaintances that are federal and state employees. They are extremely nervous about the upcoming furloughs and layoffs and are all parroting the same thing: "I feel for the unemployed and all that, but, this could be happening to me and its unacceptable."
Congress is sitting idle except to point a finger in one direction or another. When Boehner said that the Senate should get off their butts and do something, I knew austerity, I mean sequestration, had finally arrived. Only the House can pass an appropriation bill - the Senate can only approve or disapprove, and the President can only sign or veto. Either he doesn't know his job, or he is trying to look like he is fingerpointing.
Maybe soon, there will be enough unemployed workers to make a real difference. Then we can force change through numbers because we all will be standing together whether we like it or not.

Learn Sewing
"The desire for made in USA is out there, the problem is there's no one to make it, which is a need this program is filling," he said. "I want to be part of a movement that makes factory work cool and sexy again."smindles wrote:So are we going to commensurate till our lives are snuffed or are we going to give each other good sensible direction.... or are we to dialect ourselves to meaningless dribbling crap in this forum?
'Dying trade' revived in job creation effort'
By Emanuella Grinberg
http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/28/living/minnesota-sewing-trade-class
A better life through sewing
It may not sound like the sexiest gig ever, but Loeser is one of 18 students who see the program as a ticket to a brighter future. Some are lifelong Midwesterners, but nearly half are legal immigrants from as far as Somalia, Myanmar and Mexico. Some of them want to make use of a skill they utilized in their homeland or find a steady job that keeps them off their feet...
"Dying trades are coming back to life," Kerrigan said. "Companies are looking for people with the right skills and people want to recareer and get back into the work force, and they want to do it quickly."
The Sewing & Production Specialist Program meets for 5 months for four hours for 2-3 nights a week and the estimated cost is $3,600 which includes tuition, books, supplies and college fees. 16 of the 18 students receive scholarships.
Perhaps we need to stitch the fabric of our lives back together by returning to our roots as Americans. Sewing, farming, construction, and other forgotten trades may make a comeback. Anyone want to be a Blacksmith?

Big surprise invisible, those that may suffer a SHORT TERM layoff or furlough are now worried. They haven t given a rat s ars about me the last 5 + years as I slowly lost my house, bank accounts, credit, car, and the feeling I am part of society Nor did they care about you, or any of the REAL unemployed . I for one will not waste a minute of my time worrying about them now.
Just had to get that off my chest.

Astroturfer?
Please don't use words like dialect, when you are so good at the Hegelian dialectic.
Solutions if you are young and healthy, is to become as independent as possible. Even consider ways to make a living that do not necessitate a "job".
Learn trades and skills. Do not go into debt. Collect cans if you are your state has returnables. Ok, I listed a few solutions. Now can we talk about what is going on too.

Lol! I collect cans! Business is slow right now, but in the summer I can make about $200 a week. Maybe I should put that on my resume to fill the gap in employment!

Meanwhile the housing market is propped up by Investment buyers, 1st time Home Buyers can not afford a new house, so eventually that bubble is going to pop again. Just read an article that more S&P 500 companies are going to be getting rid of people, 12K in the case of JP Morgan/Chase...the New way to prop up sagging shares: Either buy company stock or get rid of people. The 2nd one is the way that most companies are going, especially since the sales to consumers are not there to support operations.
