1099 vs W-2 updates
i am not "experienced" with filling for UI benefits, just the one time when i ran out anf became a 99er.....
I refiled about two months ago even though thru a series of half-a-dozen jobs i am three weeks short of the needed 20 week min in Ohio, although I have 25-7 weeks of work some was unfortunately labeled 1099....
After about three weeks i was given a determination of "ineligible" ...
1) I appealed with additional documentation and was then labeled "eligible"
2) another message followed "order vacated" redetermined "ineligible"
3) appealed again with pay stubs i found for the 1099 work (more info)
when contacting said company they will NOT give out FEIN nummber (confidential)
I included documentation from companies explaining the work requirements, and explained how these requirements make the job W-2 per IRS rules....
Just to spice things up I actually worked another week for yet another company and didnt file that week (W-2 work)...or so i thought...when trying to file for the week after the software made me re-open an old case because of the earned incom...
I now get a message sayiny my OLD exhausted claim will be re-opened....
AT this point it may sound like I am just F***ing with the unemployment office...
however it is MY understanding that I am not responsible for being MISclassified...
I thought of just waiting till another contract came along, but that maybe months, and MANY people are in this boat....If i can put another check mark against these companies that openly violate the law that would be the "right" thing to do....
as of a few days ago a company has contacted me about another contract from Oct-Jan 2013...not set in stone yet as these things often fall apart....
I expect a phone call from UI or something within a week or so asking me why i am trying to re-open a case or something, and it is getting amusing.....(as long as this new contract holds up).....
But that's how i see the immediate future....small contracts, until they add up to enough for UI benefits then a few weeks or months back and forth between work and UI......
You know how many forms i have scanned and emailed I-9's, W-4's, applications, etc...sometime at a moments notice....cheesh...
I will keep everyone informed as to the correspondence i get from state UI.....

Printable 1099 and W-2 Tax Forms
You can download any 1099 tax form from the IRS website. This first page of the form goes out of the way to say
"Do not file copy A downloaded from this website. The official printed version of this IRS form is scannable, but the online version of it, printed from this website, is not. A penalty may be imposed for filing forms that can't be scanned."
There are a few key points to take from this paragraph:
*Moderated*!!!
