I have been gone from this site for a while.. I was slipping to far into depression with the hope that 99ers would not be forgotten and our government cared about all.. I was wrong.. Does anyone think that there is a chance they will extend the 14 weeks?
I did finish community college and have been accepted to a 4 year university so my time has been put to good use. However Thanksgiving was a chicken I happen to have in the Freezer things are so tough the 14 weeks would make such a difference.. All this and I never stopped looking for a job I have even looked for xmas work and never had a interview of course I am over 50 so.. and unemployed 3 years..
But I would like again to believe we (99ers and all) have a chance...

Welcome back. I can understand needing a break. We all do at times for our own mental health. The restoring the American dream act was introduced this week. This adds weeks for 99ers. I don't have a link handy bit it's posted on the forum.

Welcome back.

Hi Judi58!
And welcome back!
I myself have been reading this site for three years now and I have just recently made my first posting the other day. I have remained in the shadows simply reading everyone's posts and soaking it all up. I can no longer remain silent. Maybe it's been the republican clown show unfolding that put me over the edge! I have read heart breaking story after story. The occupy movement has everyone fired up! That is the only story that has made me proud again! Proud to be an American, we that have served our country did not do so for them we did it for us! We are in this world together, we are a unit, and none shall be left behind!
This is only a moment in time, working together we shall overcome all adversity. We are not slaves, we are brothers and sisters! Never surrender and take no prisoners. Fight the oppression, never stop fighting! For when we do, that's when they truly win.

Stay the course, everyone, you are not alone. I will fight till the strength has left my body!

Judi58, Glad you took the time to post. I am very impressed by your finishing community college and pursuing something more.

I know how it is on the job hunting.

Take Care

Welcome back Judi58! We were worried about you and wondering if you were ok. Im so relieved to see you post! I understand completely about the depression. We are always here for you.

As JIM mentioned, there has been a revised version of "The American Dream Act" entered into congress. It is now called "The American Dream Act For The 99%" It is comprised of extending UI benefits and extending from 99 weeks to 114 weeks among some other good things. I will find the thread and post it here for you to read. We dont have a bill number for it yet.

So glad to see you back!!

I've been a 99er for 6 months now that I don't even know if I'm coming or going. I had to move with family because I couldn't keep up with the rent. I exhausted all my benefits. Not sure if I would even qualify for this new extension of 14 weeks after such a long time.

Im sorry to hear that fred. We had to move in with my inlaws. Feels like its never going to end, but it will. someday we will all be back to living a somewhat normal life. Its going to take time but it will happen. God bless and you are all in my prayers.

Im not sure how far back they will go with it. I will research it. Im guessing it would be at least 1yr back? There are millions that have been 99ers for over a year now. I hope it at least goes back to 2010.

My husband has been a 99er since sept. 2010. Praying it will go back that far.

If the 14 weeks are added to Tier 1, anyone who was eligible for EUC08 and exhausted benefits is eligible. That includes individuals who lost their job during the last part of 2007 who are still unemployed.
