I'm one of them. I became a 99er a month ago and I still haven't found work.

This is what is stated on CA EDD website. I only included info regarding 99ers in the quote, but the link is below...
New Developments on Federal Unemployment Extensions
(Updated July 12, 2011)
en Español
7/12/11 9 a.m.
Updated: Number of individuals who have run out of benefits is now over 469,000
NO IMPACT FOR CUSTOMERS WHO HAVE RUN OUT OF MAXIMUM BENEFITS
The federal legislation enacted on December 17, 2010, does not include any additional weeks of extended benefits, so the maximum total remains up to 99 weeks of benefits. As of July 11, 2011, there have been more than 469,000 unemployed workers in California who have run out of all available benefits, up to the 99 week maximum.

What is the total population of CA based on current census? Wonder if any of them have found work? What will the number really look like at year-end - scary!!!

The total population of California is around 37 million officially.
But you need to add at least another 2 million homeless, and 4-6 million illegals. Some were included in the census, and some were not.
My guess is that the true number is around 45 million.

As hard as it is to admit, I have been a 99er since March 2010. Approximately 7000 "99ers" join the ranks every week. I don't know how many have been lucky enough to find a job but I do know the jobs market here is basically nonexistent!

Same here in AZ for jobs, and as everyone knows we have a very hugh illegal population. Some were rounded up by ICE a month or so ago that had jobs, but it's a daily thing for our State. Some headed back down South because of no work, others headed to GA until they clamped down on their laws as well. I have nothing against Hispanic people, just follow the same rules as we have do.

Don't be ashamed, brother!
I've been a 99er since June of 2010, and I'm not ashamed at all. Think of us as the vanguard of an avenging army of the unemployed.
Re: 469,000 99ers in California - EDD this week
Due to major budget cuts, the social services in California are shutting down. Local agencies are not responding to email, phone calls, or on-site visits to their offices for help. HPRP (Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing Program) is not serving single people because the funding has been put on hold or the workers that handle these cases for the state have been laid off. Apparently workers in many areas of the California state government are being let go, which causes case loads to go up and leaves fewer workers with more cases. Social service programs in some cities have been cut back severely or eliminated. San Jose, CA had a 25% reduction in social service programs in the last couple of weeks and libraries have had their hours cut back, etc. Charities are giving less and churches are no longer able to help with food, shelters or job assistance. Pastors and ministers no longer return calls and the church clerks say there is no help available. The services are drying up just when we need them most. God help us.

Well, here in San Diego, that's been happening for most of a year now.
I called San Diego Catholic Charities recently, and never got past the receptionist who answered the phone. "Uhh, no, we don't do that anymore" was all she had to say.
