28 months later, and I think I may have a job!
A couple of weeks ago, I applied for a position at the shop where I buy my dog's food/supplies. Before my unemployment benefits ran out, I spent a lot of money in the store, so the owner and staff know me pretty well.
Yesterday afternoon, I received a voicemail, asking me to call back and schedule an interview with them. When I did, Susie, one of the owners answered, and said: "I already know you, and like you, but I want you to come in and meet with my husband for the interview."
I feel pretty positive about this one. It's part time work, but the shop is independently owned, and the staff always seems very happy! I am very passionate/knowledgable about animals (especially dogs!), and would feel great about working with them, as they sell really high-quality pet supplies, and they also do ALOT for animals in the community - best part is that it's down the street, and I am able to walk there...anyway, please cross your fingers/pray that I get this job...my checking account is down to $3.94, with no other interviews in sight!

Such wonderful news for you, gives me goosebumps on how it all came about. It must have been meant to be. For years, I was always at Petsmart on Saturdays, but then a friend told me about a small independent supplier. They also had great dog food and other products. They also did a really good business. I'll be sending good vibes and wishes that it all works out good for you.

Thanks everyone. I am hoping that WE ALL find some financial relief soon - either in the form of new employment, or the passage of HR589...my prayers are with everyone here as well!
